There is no single universal list of the best watches under €10,000: the answer changes with the country, current local price, and whether you are buying new or pre-owned. Since Mike’s actual selections and those buying criteria are not specified, this is a practical shortlist of candidates—not a claim about his personal choices. It focuses on what each watch is for and what to check before deciding.
How to read this shortlist
Treat €10,000 as a ceiling to verify against the exact reference and your market, not as a price guarantee. A model may fall below the limit in one country or on the pre-owned market and exceed it elsewhere. The sources cited here do not establish current euro retail prices for every candidate, so confirm the local price, configuration, and availability before counting a watch as eligible.
The candidates serve different purposes: a robust diver, a heritage chronograph, a dial-and-finishing-led watch, and a design-led watch. They are not directly interchangeable, and none is an objective winner for every wrist or use.
Best candidate for a robust daily diver: TUDOR Black Bay 58
The Black Bay 58 is the most straightforward choice here for someone who wants a compact, water-ready sports watch. TUDOR says the family’s name refers to 1958, when it introduced the 200 m-rated reference 7924, nicknamed “Big Crown.” The current family is described with 39 mm case proportions and Master Chronometer certification on TUDOR’s official Black Bay 58 page.

For a concrete specification, TUDOR’s 2025 product document identifies the burgundy model as reference M7939A1A0RU. It lists a 39 mm stainless-steel case, unidirectional bezel, sapphire crystal, 200 m water resistance, and manufacture calibre MT5400-U, with COSC and METAS certifications and a METAS-certified 65-hour power reserve. Its listed Swiss VAT-inclusive prices were CHF 3,950 on rubber and CHF 4,150 or CHF 4,250 for bracelet configurations; those are Swiss 2025 prices, not verified euro-market prices. Choose this type of watch if you value legibility, a timing bezel, and substantial water resistance in a 39 mm case. Check whether the specific reference is supplied on a bracelet or strap: configuration affects both feel and price, and the cited figures do not establish what it currently costs in your country.

Best candidate for a heritage chronograph: OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch
The Moonwatch is the chronograph-led option: its appeal centers on timing functions and an established spaceflight-era design rather than diver-style water resistance. OMEGA’s January 13, 2026 announcement introduced black-and-white 42 mm Moonwatch Professional versions in steel and 18K Moonshine Gold. The announcement says both use Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 3861 and carry a five-year warranty. It does not establish their current euro prices, so check the exact reference and local price before treating either as under the budget.
Specifications vary by reference. OMEGA’s manual for steel reference 310.32.42.50.04.001 lists a 42 mm case, manual-winding calibre 3861, chronograph and tachymeter functions, 50 m water resistance, and a 50-hour power reserve. Those figures apply to that reference, not automatically to every Speedmaster. Consult the reference-specific OMEGA manual and the January 2026 announcement when comparing variants.

Consider whether a 42 mm watch and manual winding suit your preferences, and whether the particular model’s water resistance fits your routine. A Speedmaster’s chronograph is a different proposition from the Black Bay 58’s diver bezel; choose according to the timing function and wearing experience you actually want.
Best candidate for dial and finishing: Grand Seiko
Grand Seiko is a useful direction if dial character and finishing matter more to you than buying the most overtly tool-oriented watch. Fratello’s August 19, 2024 guide named the Grand Seiko SBGH343 at €7,900 at the time of publication. That is a dated editorial price, not a current quote or a confirmation that the reference remains available below €10,000. Check the exact reference, current local price, and configuration.

The guide’s price alone does not establish fit, movement details, or service terms for a particular listing. Compare those against the official specifications for the exact watch you are considering rather than inferring them from the brand or from another Grand Seiko model. The Cartier Santos represents the design-led route: a watch to consider when recognizable case and bracelet design is the priority over a diver or chronograph format. A July 21, 2026 dealer guide includes the Santos in its under-$10,000 recommendations and discusses approximate pre-owned dollar ranges for selected watches. Those are not euro prices, live quotes, or verified values for a particular Santos reference. They cannot establish that a Santos you can buy in your market is under €10,000.

Before choosing one, compare the precise reference’s dimensions, movement, water resistance, bracelet or strap, warranty, and local price. The cited guide is a category lead, not a substitute for reference-level specifications or a current listing. See 5D Watches’ July 2026 guide.
Other categories worth considering
Under €10,000 can include more than these four styles, particularly when pre-owned watches are in scope. Chrono24 Magazine’s December 20, 2023 guide ranges across Rolex Submariner, GMT-Master and Explorer II; Omega Speedmaster and Seamaster; Tudor; Cartier Tank; Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso; Grand Seiko; and Zenith. It mixes new and pre-owned recommendations, so it is useful for identifying categories and models, not for establishing present-day eligibility or pricing. Read its December 2023 guide as a starting point for further reference-specific checks.
For a travel watch, look at GMT models; for a dress-oriented design, consider options such as the Reverso or Cartier Tank. These are category suggestions, not price-verified picks. Apply the same local-price and reference checks as for the shortlist above.
How to compare candidates before buying
- Set the buying scope. Decide whether you want new only or will consider pre-owned, and identify the country where you will buy. Verify the exact reference’s local price, taxes, and availability against the €10,000 ceiling.
- Match the watch to its job. Choose among a diver, chronograph, travel/GMT watch, dress or design-led watch, and general daily wearer based on how you will use it—not on a broad brand ranking.
- Check wrist fit and wearability. Compare the exact model’s case dimensions and try the bracelet or strap configuration if possible. A diameter figure alone does not tell you how a watch will sit on your wrist.
- Verify the reference’s specifications. Check movement and functions, water resistance, bracelet or strap, warranty, and service access in the maker’s documentation for that precise reference. Do not transfer a specification from one variant to an entire collection.
- For pre-owned, assess the individual watch. Review seller protections, condition, provenance, documentation, service history, return policy, warranty, and whether the watch is offered as a complete set. A listing price is not a guarantee of authenticity, condition, or value.
Does a watch under €10,000 hold its value?
A brand reputation or a high asking price does not establish investment returns. The cited buying guides are recommendations, not independently verified forecasts, and pre-owned prices depend on the specific reference, condition, seller, and listing date. One Fratello guide’s €9,100 Speedmaster Professional and €7,900 Grand Seiko SBGH343 figures were publication prices from August 2024; they should not be read as current market prices. Dollar ranges in the July 2026 dealer guide are approximate pre-owned figures attributed by that guide to Chrono24 and WatchCharts listings, not euro-market quotes.
