Why 2024 was Credor’s 50th anniversary
Credor dates its founding to 1974, when its first watch was introduced. The original Locomotive, designed by Gérald Genta, was unveiled in 1979. Credor revived the design in 2024 to mark the brand’s 50th anniversary—not the Locomotive’s own 50th anniversary. Credor’s anniversary history places both dates in context.
Seiko Watch Corporation announced the anniversary Locomotive, reference GCCR999, for release on August 9, 2024. It was limited to 300 pieces worldwide, with a Japanese suggested retail price of ¥1,760,000 including tax at launch. The 2024 announcement supplies those release details.
GCCR999: the 2024 anniversary edition
The GCCR999 pairs a bright-titanium case and bracelet with a compact, angular profile. Seiko’s 2024 announcement gives its diameter as 38.8 mm, thickness as 8.9 mm, and water resistance as 10 bar. It identifies the edition and launch terms, but the detailed product page is no longer available; movement and dial specifics should not be inferred from the later model.

GCCR997: the green-dial model introduced in 2025
In 2025, Credor continued the Locomotive as a design series with GCCR997, a green-dial model announced for worldwide availability beginning in May 2025. Its green dial draws inspiration from a railway signal and uses a repeating hexagonal pattern. The motif appears again in the case, bezel, crown, bezel screws, and bracelet links. Credor’s February 2025 announcement describes the design and launch plan.
Credor lists the GCCR997 with its CR01 automatic movement, which can also be wound by hand. The case and bracelet are made of high-intensity titanium. Credor describes that material as 30% lighter and more scratch-resistant than stainless steel; that comparison is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent test result. The watch measures 38.8 mm in diameter, 41.7 mm lug-to-lug, and 8.9 mm thick. How much does the Credor Locomotive cost?
The published prices are launch-era figures for different markets, not verified current asking prices. Seiko announced ¥1,760,000 including tax as the Japanese suggested retail price for the 2024 GCCR999. Credor’s February 5, 2025 release listed €14,500 as the European recommended retail price for GCCR997 and cautioned that specifications and price could change. These amounts do not establish current dealer stock, resale value, or the price available in another country.

The anniversary model is GCCR999, released in 2024 to mark Credor’s 50th year. GCCR997 is the green-dial model introduced in 2025, a later continuation of the Locomotive design rather than a renamed or recolored GCCR999. Credor’s later announcement of its first participation at Watches and Wonders Geneva in 2026 is separate brand news, not a new anniversary release. Credor’s October 2025 announcement concerns that event.
