Announced on January 16, 2025, ahead of the 2025 Formula One season, the watch brings the partnership into IWC’s cleanest current pilot-watch format: a 40 mm grade-5 titanium case, black dial with PETRONAS-green detailing, automatic calibre 32111 with a 120-hour power reserve, 100 m water resistance, and a quick-change green rubber strap. It should not be described as a 2026 launch or automatically as a limited edition. As of the research date of August 12, 2026, IWC identifies it as an official team watch, not a numbered limited edition.
What makes the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Mark XX different?
The collaboration is immediately recognizable, but it does not rely on a racing-themed chronograph layout. The dial remains fundamentally a Mark XX dial: clear Arabic numerals, strong contrast, a date display, and a restrained pilot-watch arrangement. PETRONAS green appears in the numerals, indices, and hands, while the matching rubber strap makes the team connection unmistakable.

That restraint is important. Earlier Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS IWC watches made their motorsport association through chronograph functions, larger cases, and more technical visual details. The IW328210 takes a different approach. It uses the team’s colors and case-back engraving while leaving the basic architecture easy to read and easy to wear.

The 40 mm titanium case is the main argument
At 40 mm, the Mark XX is substantially easier to place on the wrist than a large, busy racing chronograph. That matters here because the team edition is supposed to work as an everyday watch, not merely as a fan collectible.
Grade-5 titanium also changes the wearing experience. The sandblasted treatment gives the case a matte gray appearance rather than the brighter, more conventional look of polished or brushed steel.
This is more than a cosmetic gray colorway. Titanium makes the watch lighter, and the muted surface reinforces the technical Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS identity without adding carbon-fiber patterns or oversized branding. The trade-off is that titanium’s lightness can make a substantial mechanical watch feel less substantial than its price suggests, while the matte surface may show marks differently from polished steel.

The strongest design decision is the way the PETRONAS palette is integrated into the Mark XX rather than pasted onto it. The black dial and gray case provide a restrained base; the green accents and strap supply the team identity. The result is clearly not a generic Mark XX, but it also avoids the visual clutter that can make motorsport collaborations difficult to wear outside a race weekend.
The green is not neutral, however. It will dominate an outfit more than a black, blue, or conventional green-dial Mark XX, and the team branding may age faster for buyers whose interest in Formula One is casual. The watch is understated only by the standards of a racing collaboration—not by the standards of an ordinary everyday watch.

Calibre 32111 and the five-day reserve
Inside is IWC’s automatic calibre 32111, the same broad movement platform used across the wider Mark XX family. Its headline feature is a 120-hour power reserve. If the watch is fully wound, it can typically run through a normal two-day weekend without stopping, which is one of the most useful conveniences in a mechanical watch.
The reserve also makes the watch easier to own than a shorter-power-reserve mechanical model. You can remove it on Friday evening and still expect it to be running when you return to it on Monday, assuming it was adequately wound and operating normally.

There is an important limit to the movement story: the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS edition does not receive a collaboration-specific complication. There is no new chronograph, racing timer, tourbillon, or special timing function. Its mechanical appeal comes from combining an established five-day Mark XX platform with titanium, team colors, a rubber strap, and team-specific case-back treatment.
Useful specifications for daily wear
The time-and-date display is more practical for everyday use than a chronograph if you rarely need elapsed-time measurements. The black-and-green dial should provide strong contrast, and the matching Super-LumiNova hands preserve the watch’s legibility in low light.
The stated 10-bar, or 100 m, water-resistance rating gives the watch a credible daily-wear profile for ordinary exposure to water. It should not be inflated into a claim of professional diving capability, nor does the rating prove resistance to racing impacts, vibration, heat, or rapid temperature changes.
IWC has positioned the watch for trackside use by team members including mechanics, engineers, and race strategists. That establishes the partnership context and intended association. It is not independent performance testing. There is no basis here for calling the watch race-tested, cockpit-proven, or guaranteed to maintain accuracy under Formula One conditions.

IWC’s own history describes the Mark XX as the latest continuation of the Mark series, whose modern form was introduced in 2022. The IW328210 is the third official Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS team watch. The earlier watches included the 2022 Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition and the 2023 Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41.
Price and the collaboration premium
Contemporary launch coverage reported a U.S. retail price of approximately $6,100. That figure is useful historical context, but it should not be treated as a guaranteed current price in every market. Availability, taxes, regional pricing, and production status can change, so confirm the current figure and stock with IWC or an authorized seller before buying.
The premium is not paying for a new complication. Compared with standard strap-configured Mark XX models reported around the launch period, the team edition commanded more for its titanium case, special dial and hands, PETRONAS rubber strap, team engraving, and collaboration status. Whether that premium is sensible depends on how much value you place on the partnership identity.
A buyer who wants the underlying Mark XX experience at the lowest possible price should compare the standard collection. A buyer who wants an F1-linked IWC with a lighter case and a more wearable profile may find the premium easier to justify. No conclusion about investment appreciation follows from the collaboration alone.
Straps, fit, and ownership
The EasX-CHANGE system is one of the watch’s practical advantages. It allows compatible straps to be changed more easily than a conventional fixed-strap arrangement, making it possible to reduce the amount of green in the watch when the occasion calls for something quieter.
IWC documentation identifies 20/18 mm EasX-CHANGE straps as compatible with the Mark XX family. That does not mean every generic 20 mm strap will fit this watch. Before buying a replacement, verify the lug width, tapered dimensions, end-link or connector shape, buckle arrangement, and—most importantly—compatibility with IWC’s EasX-CHANGE hardware.

A compatible black or neutral strap could make the titanium case more versatile, but changing the strap will not turn the watch into an anonymous Mark XX: the green dial details and team engraving remain. Owners should also confirm whether a replacement strap preserves the intended fit and water-resistance conditions.
The five-day reserve reduces the practical need for a watch winder. A winder is not required equipment, and owners should follow IWC’s care guidance rather than assuming that constant winding is beneficial. For travel, a padded single-watch case is more directly useful. A strap-changing tool is only a secondary purchase because EasX-CHANGE minimizes the need for conventional spring-bar work; it becomes more relevant if you are working with a strap that uses traditional hardware.

Buy it if you are an F1 fan who wants one daily watch
This is the clearest audience. You get a recognizable team connection, a manageable 40 mm case, a light titanium build, a long power reserve, a useful date display, and a 100 m rating. The watch can acknowledge the team without looking like a novelty chronograph.
Choose the standard Mark XX if you want maximum versatility
The standard collection is the better choice for someone who wants a watch to disappear into different wardrobes. Its more neutral dial and strap or bracelet options are easier to wear formally and less dependent on an ongoing connection to Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS or Formula One.
Choose an earlier chronograph if timing functions matter
The IW328210 is not the technical leader of the partnership. If you want elapsed-time measurement, a more overt motorsport layout, or the visual complexity associated with racing watches, an earlier Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS chronograph may be more satisfying. Check the exact reference for case size, water resistance, movement, and availability rather than assuming all team editions share the same specifications.
