The highest documented Breguet auction result in the sources covered here is the 2012 sale of pocket watch No. 2667: Christie’s reported CHF 4,339,000 (also reported as USD 4,686,120) and called it a world-record price for a Breguet watch at auction at the time. That is an auction result, not a current retail price. The available records do not establish a comparable global top ten, so the results below are a selection—not a ranked list of the ten most expensive Breguet watches ever sold.
What is the most expensive Breguet watch documented here?
Breguet & Fils No. 2667, a pocket watch with two movements, sold at Christie’s Geneva in 2012 for CHF 4,339,000; Christie’s also reported the result as USD 4,686,120. Christie’s described the sale as “setting a world record price for watch by Breguet at auction.” That wording refers to the record at the time of the 2012 sale, not a guarantee that it remains the all-time record today.
Other prominent results include George III’s four-minute tourbillon, which Sotheby’s says sold in London in July 2020 for USD 2 million, and Breguet No. 3218, a wristwatch that Christie’s identifies as the top lot of its Geneva auction on November 12, 2024, at CHF 1,920,500 (also reported as USD 2,194,614). The sources do not establish that these results share the same buyer’s-premium convention, so their reported figures should not be treated as a precise cross-currency ranking.
Recent Breguet auction results reported by Sotheby’s
In an article published March 10, 2026, Sotheby’s listed five of its most expensive Breguet watches sold at auction since 2024. The order below is Sotheby’s reported order within that recent-results selection—not a ranking across all auction houses or all historical Breguet sales. Amounts remain in the currencies reported by Sotheby’s.

The results use US dollars, Swiss francs and Hong Kong dollars. Without a stated conversion method and date, converting them into one currency would add a new comparison rather than reproduce Sotheby’s reported figures. The available descriptions also do not establish a common premium or tax convention for all five.
Other documented high-value Breguet sales
These additional results show why a simple top-ten list is difficult to support: they come from different years and sources, and the available records do not provide one consistent basis for comparing currencies and sale-price conventions.

| Watch | Sale information | Reported result | What the source establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breguet & Fils No. 2667 | Christie’s, Geneva, 2012 | CHF 4,339,000 / USD 4,686,120 | Two-movement pocket watch; Christie’s called the result a world record for a Breguet watch at auction at the time. |
| George III’s gold four-minute tourbillon | Sotheby’s, London, July 2020 | USD 2 million | Sotheby’s press release reports the result; the available description does not provide enough detail to compare its premium convention with every other sale listed here. |
| Breguet No. 3218 | Christie’s Geneva, November 12, 2024 | CHF 1,920,500 / USD 2,194,614 | Christie’s identifies this 1935 wristwatch as the top lot of that auction, not as an all-time Breguet record. |
| Founder-era tourbillon pocket watch No. 1918 | Christie’s Geneva, November 8, 2021 | CHF 1,230,000 | Breguet describes a rare natural escapement and four-minute tourbillon cage. It says the watch was among 35 tourbillon-regulated watches made during Abraham-Louis Breguet’s lifetime. |
| Breguet No. 3832 | Christie’s Geneva, November 8, 2021 | CHF 1,206,000 | Breguet describes an extra-thin watch with equation of time, calendar displays, small seconds, half-quarter repeater and tact reading. Breguet says both No. 3832 and No. 1918 were originally delivered to Count Giuseppe d’Archinto. |
A one-off charity result, not a standard model price
Breguet reports that the unique Type XX Only Watch 2021 sold for CHF 250,000 on November 6, 2021, against an estimate of CHF 35,000–50,000. Because it was a one-off charity-auction piece, that result should not be read as the price of an ordinarily available Type XX or as a normal retail benchmark.
Why these results do not make a verified top ten
The available records combine a historical pocket-watch result, modern wristwatches, a one-off charity piece and a recent list limited to one auction house’s sales since 2024. They report results in different currencies and do not consistently explain whether buyer’s premium, taxes or other costs are included. The sources therefore support individual documented results, but not ten positions in a complete, comparable global ranking.

Preserve the auction house’s figure and wording rather than treating every amount as an equivalent buyer-paid total.
- Currency and date: CHF, USD and HKD amounts cannot be directly ordered by size as though they were a single-currency comparison. A conversion needs a method and date, neither of which is established for the results above.
- Type and availability: A historic pocket watch, a standard wristwatch and a unique charity lot are different kinds of objects. A one-off result does not set the price of a current production model.
- Individual watch details: Complications, rarity, condition, originality and provenance can inform a particular sale, but the records cited here do not document all of those factors for every watch. Complexity alone does not prove why a specific buyer paid a specific amount.
How auction prices differ from current retail prices
Auction results describe particular watches changing hands on particular dates. A manufacturer’s recommended retail price is a separate measure, and the price of an older watch when first sold is a third. None can substitute for another in a price ranking.
Current Classique Grande Sonnerie Métiers d’Art 1905
Breguet’s current reference 1905BH/2H is a pocket watch in 18K Breguet gold. Breguet lists grande and petite sonnerie, a minute repeater and a tourbillon among its complications. The brand directs prospective buyers to a point of sale for the recommended retail price and does not publish a numeric price on the product page. Its retail price therefore cannot be stated from the available information.
Rank #4
Breguet describes the wider Classique collection as including ultra-thin watches and sophisticated complications, with stylistic elements such as open-tipped hands, Breguet numerals, fluted cases, guilloché and enamel dials. Complications across the collection include calendars, moon phases, minute repeaters and tourbillons; those collection-wide features should not be assumed to apply to every Classique reference.
Historical prices are not modern equivalents
Breguet’s archive says Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples, ordered a repeater watch for bracelet in 1810 and gives the charge as 5,000 francs. The brand identifies the watch as No. 2639 and describes it as an exceptionally thin oval repeater watch with complications. Breguet calls it the first known wristwatch. That quoted historical charge is not directly comparable with a modern auction result or retail price without a defined, sourced inflation and currency-conversion method.
