Tom Hardy’s character, RAF pilot Farrier, wears an Omega CK2129 in Dunkirk—a 1940 watch made for RAF crews. Its rotating bezel was designed to help pilots track elapsed time, and the film-associated example belongs to the Omega Museum collection and is not for sale.
Which Omega does Tom Hardy wear in Dunkirk?
It is the Omega “RAF” CK2129, a model identified in Omega’s 2017 release and contemporary watch coverage. In the film, Farrier uses his watch as a practical instrument after damage to the aircraft’s fuel gauge leaves him estimating how much fuel remains. The watch is a time-only model with a timing bezel, not a chronograph.
Why was the CK2129 made for the RAF?
Time & Tide reports, citing Omega’s book A Journey Through Time, that Omega’s London sales subsidiary placed an urgent order on 5 January 1940 for 2,000 rotating-bezel watches for RAF crews. The account says deliveries to Goldsmiths and Silversmiths began on 10 March 1940, and that 2,000 watches were delivered. These details come from the book as reproduced by Time & Tide; the original order document has not been independently examined here. Read Time & Tide’s account of the CK2129.
How does the rotating bezel work?
The grooved bezel can be turned to mark a starting point, then read against the minute hand to track elapsed time—for example, to monitor an interval during flight. A second crown at 4 o’clock locks the bezel to help prevent accidental movement. That makes the CK2129 a timing instrument, but it does not have the stopwatch mechanism associated with a chronograph. Gear Patrol explains the bezel’s use.

What are the CK2129’s notable features?
Time & Tide’s account of Omega’s historical description lists a steel case with lyre-shaped lugs, a grooved rotating bezel, a screwed crown at 4 o’clock, a silvered dial, a minute track, Arabic numerals, blued-steel hands, and calibre 23.4 SC with central seconds. The account also says the movement was adjusted in four positions to within 10 seconds per day. That figure describes the model in the historical source; it is not a current accuracy guarantee or service specification.

No. A 4 September 2017 reproduction of an Omega release says the CK2129 associated with the film is held by the Omega Museum and is not for sale. That statement applies to the screen-associated watch; it does not establish whether another surviving CK2129 is currently available. The release also explicitly identifies Hardy’s watch as model CK2129. Read the reproduced Omega release at WatchMediaOnline.
