The Timex M555 is the module designation used for a digital watch manual, not a complete watch-style or band identifier. Timex documents a chronograph, alarm and INDIGLO night-light; its US manual directory lists model 555 with a CR2016 battery. Check the specific watch’s caseback before ordering a battery, repair or strap.
What does Timex M555 identify?
Timex’s manual materials distinguish a watch’s style number from its movement or model designation. The M555 label identifies the module/manual; it does not establish the exact watch style or its band. For service, Timex asks for the style number and model number shown on the caseback. What battery does a Timex 555 use?
Timex’s US manual directory lists model 555 with a CR2016 battery. The M555 manual says the battery type is indicated on the caseback, so use the code on the individual watch to confirm before buying a replacement. The manual directory provides the model listing.
Timex’s manual says, “Timex strongly recommends that a retailer or jeweler replace battery.” A watch retailer or jeweler can handle the replacement; Timex also lists battery replacement among its repair options. Current service availability and charges should be checked on Timex’s repair form.

How do the M555’s functions work?
Chronograph
- Select CHR mode.
- Press START/STOP to start or stop timing.
- While the chronograph is running, press SPLIT/RESET to display a split time. After stopping the chronograph, press SPLIT/RESET to reset it.
The manual notes that the chronograph continues running if you leave the mode.
Alarm
Press START/STOP to arm or disarm the alarm. Pressing any button silences an alarm without disarming it, so it remains set for the next day.

In the time or alarm display, press INDIGLO/SPLIT/RESET to illuminate the face.

Is the Timex M555 waterproof?
The M555 manual gives a water-resistance rating of 30 m/98 ft. It warns: “TO MAINTAIN WATER-RESISTANCE, DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS UNDER WATER.” It also says water resistance depends on the lens, push buttons and case remaining intact; the watch is not a diver watch and should not be used for diving. Rinse it with fresh water after exposure to salt water. These are the manual’s specifications and care instructions, not a guarantee for an aged, damaged or previously opened watch. Read the manual.

M555 alone does not establish band compatibility. Find the watch’s style number on the caseback, then verify the lug width, attachment type and strap dimensions against the exact watch before ordering. Timex’s FAQ says replacement straps can be found through its store or ordered by calling customer service. Timex’s repair form also asks for the caseback style and model numbers and lists band replacement as a service option; check that page for current charges and options.
