Which Ebel watches use caliber 187-1?
A documented example is the Ebel Discovery reference 9187341, dated circa 2002. Dorotheum’s auction catalog identifies its movement as quartz caliber 187-1, with seven jewels, date and central seconds. This establishes one application, not a complete list of models. The catalog recommended servicing for that particular auction watch; that note should not be taken as a diagnosis of other examples.

Which battery does an Ebel 187-1 take?
Caliber Corner lists cell 362, a 1.55 V silver-oxide battery. A specifically labeled 362 / SR721SW silver-oxide cell is the relevant product category to check, but the caliber listing is not an official Ebel parts sheet and does not confirm fit in every individual watch.
- Before ordering, check the marking on the battery removed from your watch or ask a watchmaker to confirm the correct cell.
- If opening the case would require specialist tools, or you need the watch’s water resistance preserved, have a watchmaker handle the replacement and assess the seals.

Can 187-2 parts be used in an 187-1?
Caliber Corner describes the 187-2 as similar to the 187-1 but with a different coil configuration, and reports that some parts may be interchangeable. That is not enough to assume a part will fit or function correctly. Compatibility needs to be checked for the exact component and movement variant by a watchmaker.

How do you set the date?
Ebel’s September 2021 operating manual gives general guidance for setting the date: pull the crown to position B, turn it until the date is correct, then push it back to position A. If the watch has a screw-down crown, unscrew it before adjustment and screw it back down afterward. This is general Ebel operating guidance, not a caliber-187-1-specific service manual.

Choose professional service if you cannot positively identify the existing cell, the case needs specialist opening, you need a water-resistance assessment after opening, or the problem involves the movement or parts rather than routine battery replacement. Opening a watch can affect its seals; a battery listing alone does not establish that the watch remains water resistant afterward.

Ebel’s manual says seals and other components wear over time and directs owners to Ebel or MGI for a current worldwide service-center directory.
