What the Timor Heritage Field ATP is—and what it is not
Timor describes the Heritage Field ATP as a watch based on its original Army Trade Pattern watches. The current Heritage Field ATP is a newly made interpretation, not a surviving wartime watch or proof of military issue. Timor’s history page says the company was founded in 1923 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Mr Bernheim and Mr Luthy. It says that during the beginning of World War II the British Army acquired watches from several brands under the Army Trade Pattern, and that Timor was among the few manufacturers to build a watch specifically for the Army. These are the company’s own historical claims, rather than independent archival findings. Timor’s company history and press page also describe its later W.W.W. military-watch connection and its reincorporation in the United Kingdom in 2019.
The exact first-issue year is not clear across the available accounts: Timor’s product copy refers to both 1938 and 1939, while Fratello’s 2021 review says ATP watches were first issued in 1939. Without further primary archival documentation, it is better to treat the year as unsettled rather than assign the modern model a precise wartime origin date. A 36.5 mm diameter is relatively modest by many contemporary sports-watch standards, while the 45.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement describes the watch’s length across the wrist. Check both measurements against a watch you already find comfortable: diameter alone does not determine fit. The 18 mm lug width matters if you plan to use another strap; Timor lists optional green and black leather and sail-cloth straps, but confirm the exact variant and strap compatibility before ordering. Hand-wound or automatic: what changes?
Timor lists two operating choices: a hand-wound version using a Sellita SW216 and an automatic version using a Sellita SW260. The distinction is how the watch is wound, not a difference in the published case dimensions or the historical inspiration.

The official listing does not establish a performance ranking between the movements, and the available information does not support calling one option universally better. Water resistance and daily use
Timor states 5 ATM, 50 m or 165 ft water resistance. This is the manufacturer’s rating; it is not an independent test result or a guarantee for every kind of water activity. The listing does not specify permitted activities or service conditions, so consult Timor for guidance if swimming or other water exposure is important to your use.

What the 2021 hands-on review observed
Lex Stolk’s Fratello review, dated November 28, 2021, describes the watch from that year’s batch. The reviewer characterized that batch as 50 hand-wound and 50 automatic pieces, and reported the same general dimensions Timor lists today: 36.5 mm diameter, 45.5 mm lug-to-lug, 11 mm height and 18 mm strap width. Stolk described the watch as comfortable on the wrist and noted its brushed steel, creamy white dial, beige lume and 94 g weight. These are the reviewer’s dated observations of the review-era watch; they are not firsthand observations by this article’s author and should not be generalized to every current batch.
