The Tissot Heritage 1936, reference T104.405.16.012.00, is a modern hand-wound wristwatch styled around pocketwatch-era details—not an old pocketwatch converted for the wrist. Its 45 mm case, wire lugs and hinged back make it distinctive, but also give it a substantial, niche-wear character. A 2016 review reported a 56-hour power reserve and 50 m water resistance; those are historical specifications, not newly verified current manufacturer data.
Is the Heritage 1936 a pocket watch converted to a wristwatch?
No. The Heritage 1936 is a modern wristwatch that draws on an earlier Tissot pocketwatch design. Its pocketwatch references include a two-tone dial, small seconds at six, Breguet-style Arabic numerals and hands, and slender wire lugs. A pull-through-style strap helps reinforce the period look. The launch-era coverage describes the design as inspired by pocketwatches; it does not establish that this particular watch is itself a historical conversion or a documented one-to-one reproduction. Fratello’s March 2016 account discusses the design context.

How does the Tissot Heritage 1936 wear on the wrist?
Expect a broad, substantial watch
At 45 mm wide and 13 mm thick, it takes up considerable space on the wrist. The wire lugs may make its silhouette look shorter from lug to lug than a watch with conventional projecting lugs, but that is a visual impression, not a guarantee of fit. Wrist shape and personal preference matter; try it on if you can, especially if you usually wear smaller cases.
Fratello’s launch-era assessment was that the watch was “big” and “not overly practical,” while still finding it an interesting niche release. That is a useful reminder that the Heritage 1936 prioritizes character over unobtrusive everyday proportions.

Manual winding is part of the ownership experience
The ETA/Unitas 6498 is hand-wound, so the wearer must wind the watch rather than rely on wrist movement to keep it running. For some, that daily interaction is part of the appeal; for others, it is less convenient than an automatic watch. The 2016 reviewer found the flattened crown less pleasant and harder to operate, a subjective handling criticism rather than evidence of a mechanical defect.
The small seconds has a deliberate, visible beat
At the reported 18,000 vph rate, the small-seconds hand appears to advance in more distinct steps than the seconds hand of many higher-beat watches. The reviewer noticed that motion. It is a characteristic of the movement’s beat, not by itself a sign of a problem.

How legible is it, including in the dark?
The contrasting dial, large Arabic numerals and distinctive hands provide clear daytime reading. The 2016 reviewer found it easy to read in poor ambient light but rated nighttime legibility weak. The available review does not support promising useful lume or reliable reading in darkness.

The rear sapphire display lets the wearer view the movement, while a solid hinged cover protects it and echoes the pocketwatch inspiration. Opening the cover makes viewing part of the watch’s appeal; the cited reviews do not establish a tested durability advantage over other caseback designs.

Is 50 m water resistance enough for everyday wear?
The 50 m / 5 bar figure is the rating reported in 2016, not a guarantee about swimming, bathing or the condition of a particular watch today. For a used example, seal condition and service history matter, and the historical specification alone cannot establish its present water resistance.
Who is the Heritage 1936 for?
It is best suited to someone who actively wants pocketwatch-inspired styling, a hand-wound movement and a large, visually distinctive case. Consider another style if you need a compact watch, prefer automatic winding, or prioritize dependable nighttime legibility. There is not enough verified comparative information here for a detailed head-to-head verdict against another model.
