“Tissot PRS 516 Automatic” is not specific enough to identify one watch. Tissot has used closely related names for different automatic watches, including three-hand models and automatic chronographs, with different sizes and specifications. Before judging a particular example—or comparing its price—get the full reference number from the case, paperwork, or seller. The current 38 mm PR516 Powermatic 80 is a useful, documented comparison, but it is not automatically the watch meant by “PRS 516 Automatic.”
Which Tissot does “PRS 516 Automatic” mean?
The collection name alone does not settle the model’s identity. Tissot’s March 7, 2022 announcement distinguished three watches in the family: the PRS 516 Automatic Chronograph, the three-hand PRS 516 Powermatic 80, and the PRS 516 Quartz Chronograph. Tissot says the collection’s story began in 1965, but that heritage does not make these watches interchangeable or establish the specifications of an unidentified example. Tissot’s 2022 PRS 516 announcement describes the automatic chronograph as using a Valjoux movement; it does not identify an exact reference in the announcement excerpt.
There is also a naming distinction in Tissot’s current catalog: its US page calls reference T1494071105100 “Tissot PR516 38mm,” not “PRS 516 Automatic.” That watch is a three-hand automatic with a date and Powermatic 80 movement. It should be discussed by its official model name and reference, rather than silently treated as an older PRS 516. Tissot PR516 38mm T1494071105100.
What to check before treating specifications as a match
- Ask for the complete reference number, not just “PRS 516 Automatic.”
- Confirm whether the dial has a chronograph layout or is a three-hand design, and whether it has a date.
- Match the case size, movement, and functions to an official listing for that reference.
- For a pre-owned watch, request clear photos of the watch and its reference details; specifications for a newer neighboring model do not establish the older watch’s condition or service history.
What the documented current models specify
The figures below are official product-page specifications, not independent measurements or test results. They illustrate why the reference matters; they do not identify every watch described by the broad title.

The 42 mm example is 4 mm wider and 1.10 mm thicker than the cited 38 mm PR516, while both listings give a 20 mm lug width. Those dimensions can help narrow a match, but the India listing does not establish availability or pricing in another market.
How much does the current 38 mm PR516 cost?
On October 7, 2026, Tissot’s US product pages listed the steel-bracelet PR516 T1494071105100 at $825 and the leather-strap T1494071605100 at $750. These are US listing prices observed on that date for those specific current PR516 references—not a general price for the PRS 516 family, a used-market valuation, or a promise of current pricing elsewhere.

Will a 20 mm strap fit?
Tissot lists a 20 mm lug width and a quick-release bracelet option for the current 38 mm PR516 T1494071105100. That makes a 20 mm quick-release strap a reasonable accessory to investigate for that particular reference, but width alone does not prove that every strap attachment will fit. For an older PRS 516, check its own lug width and attachment style before ordering; compatibility is not established by the current model’s listing.

What this review can—and cannot—conclude
The PRS 516 name carries a documented motorsport heritage, and Tissot’s catalog includes automatic options with distinct functions. But without the full reference number, there is no sound basis for assigning one case size, movement, reserve, or price to the watch named in the title. The official pages cited here provide specifications and regional listing prices; they do not establish independent accuracy, wrist comfort, finishing quality, real-world water performance, or the condition and service history of a particular used watch.
For a buying decision, first identify the exact watch, then compare its reference-specific specifications and condition with the asking price in your market. A seller who cannot provide the reference leaves a material part of the purchase unverified.
