A 2014 hands-on post presents it as a motorsport-inspired watch with an angular, substantial case and contrasting finishes. Archival and secondary records identify an automatic C01.211 chronograph movement, but they are not a current official specification sheet for this discontinued-era model.
What the 2014 hands-on account describes
The post, published on August 27, 2014, frames the PRS 516 Extreme as a modern reinterpretation of the family’s motorsport styling. It describes a large angular case combining brushed steel and black-coated steel, with red or yellow accents. The original post’s author attribution is unclear, so its design observations are best treated as the account on that page rather than as verified testimony from a named watch expert.
That styling is paired with a notably large case. At about 44 mm across and roughly 15.7 mm thick, the watch is a substantial wrist presence; the 2014 post reports a 23 mm strap width. Those dimensions are recorded model specifications, not measurements from an independent examination for this article.
Reported specifications and their sources
Records for the older Extreme describe an automatic chronograph with a date display and C01.211 calibre. The reference archive records a 45-hour power reserve. Because the available records are archival or secondary sources—and the archive warns that its records may be incomplete or dated—treat these as reported specifications, not freshly manufacturer-confirmed details.

References and strap configurations
Reference numbers distinguish the documented configurations. The archive entry identifies the leather version as T079.427.26.057.00. Secondary references and listings also identify rubber versions T079.427.27.057.00 and T079.427.27.057.01. Check the reference on the watch and its documentation rather than relying on a shortened listing title or a strap photograph alone.
A nominal 23 mm width is useful when searching for a replacement strap, but width by itself does not establish end shape, attachment method, or fit. Confirm the exact end fitting and compatibility for the particular reference before buying an accessory.

Keep it separate from the newer PR516 Powermatic 80
The names are similar, but these are different watches. Tissot’s current PR516 page describes a 38 mm three-hand model with the Powermatic 80 movement and an 80-hour power reserve. Those details do not describe the older PRS 516 Extreme Automatic chronograph. When searching listings or comparing specifications, look for “Extreme” and the T079.427 reference family.

The available records establish that this model appears in secondary-market contexts, but they do not provide a dependable current price survey or comprehensive availability picture. A listing’s price, condition, authenticity, completeness, and buyer protection must be judged for that individual transaction.

- Confirm identity: Match the T079.427 reference to the case, dial, strap configuration, and available documentation; distinguish it from the newer PR516 Powermatic 80.
- Assess fit: Consider the roughly 44 mm diameter and 15.73 mm reported thickness against your wrist and preferred profile.
- Review condition and evidence: Ask for clear photographs and documentation, and evaluate the seller’s authenticity assurances and return or dispute protections.
- Check completeness: Establish whether box, papers, and any original strap are included; do not assume they accompany a watch simply because listing images show them.
- Verify strap compatibility: If the watch needs a replacement, confirm the end fitting and exact reference before ordering.
No controlled timing test, independent reliability assessment, or named-source statement about sales, ownership, accuracy, or reliability is established in the cited material. The reported calibre and reserve therefore identify the model on record; they do not establish how a particular used watch is currently performing.
