The Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 Carbon, reference T137.907.97.201.00, pairs a forged-carbon exterior and dial with a stainless-steel central container. It is a 40 mm automatic PRX with an 80-hour power reserve, 100 m water resistance and a supplied black rubber strap. The lightness is a defining practical difference: Monochrome reports a weight of 74 g for this watch.
What the forged-carbon PRX is—and is not
This is not a conventional steel PRX with a carbon-pattern coating. Monochrome’s review describes a forged-carbon exterior and dial, with a stainless-steel central container underneath. That distinction answers the natural construction question: the visible case material is forged carbon, but the case is not made entirely of carbon.
The case measures 40 mm across and 11.2 mm thick. It has a flat sapphire crystal and a see-through, blackened stainless-steel caseback. The dial is forged carbon, with applied hands and markers treated with Super-LumiNova, a printed minute track and a framed date window. The specification lists water resistance of 100 m; Swatch Group Japan’s launch release gives the equivalent rating of 10 bar/100 m.
Movement and everyday functions
The automatic Powermatic 80 Si movement has a silicon balance spring and an 80-hour power reserve. Monochrome’s specification lists 25 jewels, a 25.60 mm diameter and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. The functions are hours, minutes, seconds and date. The Japanese launch release also identifies a Powermatic 80 with silicon hairspring and time-and-date functions.

Strap, weight and the steel PRX comparison
The watch comes on a black rubber strap with a waffle texture and quick-release pins. Its pin buckle is black PVD-coated steel. The Japanese release describes the rubber strap as interchangeable, but the available model-specific information does not establish compatibility with particular third-party straps or replacement parts.
Monochrome reports the carbon model at 74 g. For context, the review gives about 135 g for a 40 mm steel PRX Powermatic 80 on its bracelet, depending on the number of links, and about 94 g for a steel model on OEM rubber. These are the review’s published comparison figures, not measurements made for this article. The configurations differ, so they are useful as an indication of the weight contrast rather than a like-for-like material test.

Who should consider this PRX?
The forged-carbon version is worth considering if you want the PRX design in a visually distinctive case and dial material, and prefer a reported weight lower than the review’s steel-model comparisons. Its steel central container, rubber strap and 100 m water-resistance specification are important parts of the proposition, not details to overlook when comparing it with steel PRX models.
For a comparison with a steel PRX Powermatic 80, check the exact reference and compare case and dial material, dimensions, movement variant, strap configuration and price for the same region and date. The official U.S. Tissot page cited in coverage is for a different steel reference, T137.407.33.021.00, so it does not establish this carbon model’s specifications or price.
