The current Trafford Touring GMT Core is a 39 mm automatic travel watch built around a useful distinction: its local hour hand jumps independently when you change time zones, while its GMT hand stays on home time. Its day/night ring makes that second time zone easier to read at a glance. At the listed US$899, the main trade-offs are a leather strap in the box, a separately sold bracelet, and fit figures that vary between the current Core references and an earlier production review.
How does the Trafford Touring GMT work?
The Touring GMT Core uses the automatic Miyota 9075, a traveler-style, or “true,” GMT movement. As Time+Tide’s product description puts it, “The main hour hand independently adjusts for quick time changes, while the outer GMT hand stays synchronized to home.” In practical terms, when you arrive in a new time zone, you move the local hour hand without resetting the home-time indication.
The GMT hand reads against a split day/night ring rather than relying only on a conventional 24-hour numeral scale. The ring separates daylight from nighttime, with midnight at the bottom, helping show whether it is day or night where home time is set. The Core’s date window sits at six. Time+Tide’s Core listing describes the operation and movement; Nina Scally’s March 24, 2026 review also explains the local-hour and home-time display.
Does the Trafford Touring GMT have a true GMT movement?
Yes. The Core uses the Miyota 9075, whose independently adjustable local hour hand is the defining feature of a traveler’s GMT. A caller-style GMT typically adjusts the GMT hand independently instead, which is useful for tracking another time zone but less convenient when you regularly reset local time while traveling. The Touring’s GMT hand remains aligned to home time as the local hour changes.

Time+Tide lists the movement at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), with a stated 42-hour power reserve. It also says each movement is regulated in-house to within ±10 seconds per day. That is the retailer’s stated regulation specification, not a long-term average independently established across multiple watches.
What size is the Trafford Touring GMT?
For the current Core, the best-supported headline measurement is a 39 mm case diameter. Time+Tide’s Core collection coverage gives dimensions of 39 mm diameter, 12 mm thick, and 46 mm lug-to-lug, with a 20 mm lug width. The retailer product listing confirms the 39 mm diameter but does not provide all dimensions. The collection figures are useful for estimating fit, though wrist shape and strap choice still affect how a watch wears.
Do not treat measurements from the earlier seasonal Touring GMT as identical to the Core. Worn & Wound reviewer Devin Pennypacker recorded 39.5 mm by 45.8 mm and 13 mm thickness on early-production models, and noted that changes could be made before final production. That review also gives a 20 mm lug width, but those measurements describe the early samples, not a verified measurement of every current Core.

The current retailer configuration includes a leather strap, with the bracelet sold separately. Time+Tide’s Core collection coverage lists a 20 mm lug width, a common sizing reference when shopping for another strap. Confirm the attachment style and fit with Trafford or the strap maker before ordering; the sources establish the lug width but do not document compatibility for every aftermarket strap.
This differs from Worn & Wound’s early-production review, which described leather, perlon, and bracelet options for the earlier seasonal models. Those packages should not be assumed to match the current Core listing.

What do reviews establish about accuracy and durability?
The available accuracy evidence is limited and version-specific. Worn & Wound’s Pennypacker reported a timegrapher observation of approximately ±6 seconds per day on one early-production sample. That is one reviewer’s measurement, not a guarantee for current Core watches or a multi-watch performance average. The current retailer separately states that each movement is regulated in-house to within ±10 seconds per day.
The Core is listed with 100 m water resistance, but the sources do not establish an independent pressure test or a specific activity recommendation. Treat the figure as the stated rating, and check Trafford’s current guidance before relying on the watch for a particular water use. No long-term reliability verdict or multi-sample study is established by these sources.
Is the Trafford Touring GMT worth it?
The Core makes the clearest case for itself as a travel watch: it pairs a genuinely useful jumping local hour with a home-time GMT hand, and its day/night ring makes the home-time indication visually intuitive. Its 39 mm diameter, 20 mm lug width, sapphire, automatic Miyota 9075, and stated 100 m water resistance create a coherent everyday-travel specification rather than a purely decorative GMT.

- Quartz GMT Movement - When used in conjunction with the black and blue rotating bezel, the two-blue and white triangle GMT hand can be used to track a second time zone.
- Stainless-steel - The stainless-steel case and bracelet are resistant to corrosion, rust, and daily wear and tear.
- Date Window - Easily track the date in a dedicated window beside 3 o'clock.
- Enhanced Visibility - Luminant hands ensure readability in low-light conditions.
The purchase decision depends on whether the travel function and design justify the listed US$899 price for you, especially since the bracelet costs extra. The current retailer listing showed an estimated early October 2026 shipment when checked; shipment estimates and availability can change. Trafford’s official page lists Core at $899, while Time+Tide’s Core collection coverage lists US$899/£825. Check the live listings for current price and delivery details.
For fit, use the current Core collection’s 39 x 12 x 46 mm figures as the available reference, not the older early-sample dimensions. For accuracy, regard the retailer’s ±10 seconds-per-day regulation statement as a seller specification and the roughly ±6 seconds-per-day figure as a single early-sample observation—not a promise about your watch.
