Tudor Black Bay Bronze hands-on review: what stands out

TUDOR lists a domed sapphire crystal, unidirectional bezel and water resistance to 200m. Those dimensions make it a notably large, thick watch on paper; check the measurements against a watch you already find comfortable before buying rather than assuming it will wear like a smaller Black Bay.

The dial is domed and slate grey. TUDOR places the design in its naval heritage: the dial draws on its 1950s divers, while the Snowflake hands appeared in a 1969 catalogue. The bronze case gives the familiar diver layout a warmer, less conventional character than steel.

Bronze patina: how the case changes
TUDOR describes the case material as an aluminium-copper bronze alloy that develops a subtle, individual patina according to the wearer’s habits. Its 2019 press release calls it a “living” metal and says the satin-brushed finish supports homogeneous patina development. In practical terms, the surface is intended to change with use rather than keep a permanently uniform, new-watch appearance. The exact result will vary; TUDOR does not promise a particular color or timeline.
This changing finish is a central part of the watch’s appeal, but also a personal preference to weigh. If you want the case to remain visually consistent, bronze may not be the right material. If you like a watch whose appearance develops over time, that evolution is part of the proposition.

The fabric model M79250BA-0002 pairs a slate-grey fabric strap with a bronze buckle; M79250BA-0001 is listed with black leather and a bronze buckle. Confirm the reference and included strap with the seller before purchase, since a listing’s photographs or description may not establish which configuration is being offered.
