Its main fit question is thickness: Tudor lists the case at 14.6 mm, so whether it suits your wrist and slips under your usual cuffs is best judged in person. The specifications below describe the watch; they are not a claim of independent wear or timing tests.
What the Black Bay GMT is
The M79830RB-0001 is the 41 mm stainless-steel Black Bay GMT on a riveted steel bracelet. Tudor’s current product page lists a black domed dial beneath a domed sapphire crystal, and a bidirectional bezel with a 48-notch action and a 24-hour burgundy-and-blue anodized aluminium insert. The page also specifies 200 m (660 ft) water resistance. These are published specifications, not an assessment of any particular watch’s current condition. Tudor’s product page for M79830RB-0001 is the reference for this configuration; regional pages may show different prices or availability.

How the GMT display works
The red snowflake GMT hand makes one circuit of the dial every 24 hours. Read its tip against the bezel’s 24-hour scale to track a second time zone. On this standard colorway, the burgundy section marks daylight hours and the blue section nighttime. Tudor describes the collection’s GMT function as letting the wearer establish local time while retaining sight of two other time zones. Tudor’s Black Bay GMT collection page explains the display.
The practical distinction is that the GMT hand and the bezel do separate jobs: the hand indicates the time on a 24-hour cycle, while rotating the bezel changes the reference time you read it against. The colors offer a day/night cue; they do not replace reading the hour markings.

Setting, date, and movement
The MT5652 is an automatic Manufacture Calibre with a bidirectional rotor and an approximately 70-hour power reserve, according to Tudor. The date is instantaneous and synchronized with the jumping-hour hand setting, and the movement includes stop-seconds. That jumping local-hour behavior is useful when changing time zones: the local hour can be adjusted without losing the GMT hand’s reference to the other zone.
Tudor’s 2023 technical sheet lists COSC certification, a variable-inertia balance with micro-adjustment screw, a non-magnetic silicon balance spring, 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hz), 28 jewels, a movement diameter of 31.8 mm and movement thickness of 7.52 mm. These are movement and certification specifications, not results from an independent accuracy test. Tudor’s 2023 Black Bay GMT technical sheet provides the technical details.

Will the 41 mm Black Bay GMT wear too thick?
Tudor publishes a 41 mm case diameter, 14.6 mm thickness and 22 mm lug width for M79830RB-0001. A 2018 hands-on video description from The 1916 Company gives a 50.2 mm lug-to-lug measurement and reports thickness as 14.5 mm; its figure differs slightly from Tudor’s current published thickness. Measurement methods and rounding can vary, so treat the retailer’s lug-to-lug figure as an attributed measurement rather than a Tudor specification. The 1916 Company’s 2018 hands-on description identifies the exact -0001 reference.
Thickness is the dimension most likely to matter under a cuff, but diameter alone cannot predict fit: wrist shape, lug span, bracelet sizing and personal preference all affect how a watch sits. If thickness is a concern, try the watch on and check the case profile from the side as well as how the bracelet fits. No comfort, cuff-fit or bracelet-feel claim can be established from the published measurements alone.

How it compares with the Black Bay 58 GMT
The Black Bay 58 GMT is a separate model, not a smaller version of this exact reference. Hodinkee’s hands-on article concerns the 58 GMT and gives the older 41 mm Black Bay GMT’s dimensions as 41 × 14.6 × 50 mm for comparison. That rounded comparison is close to the current official diameter and thickness and the retailer’s 50.2 mm lug-to-lug figure, but the article is not a review of M79830RB-0001 or a complete survey of Tudor’s current range. When comparing the two, check the dimensions and configuration published for the exact reference you are considering. Also compare how the GMT hand and bezel read to you, how the local-hour setting behaves, and the bracelet or strap supplied. Published specifications can answer questions about size, water resistance, movement certification and reserve; wrist preference and local price or stock require checking the individual watch and market.

Guarantee and buying checks
Tudor’s current page states a five-year transferable guarantee without registration or periodic maintenance checks. That is the brand’s stated policy for the specified model; it does not establish that a pre-owned example remains covered. Confirm the paperwork, purchase date and applicable terms for the individual watch. Price and configuration availability depend on region, and no current local price or stock level is established here. A retailer listing for reference M79830RB-0012 is a different reference, so it should not be treated as proof of availability for -0001. Tourneau’s listing identifies the -0012 reference.
