Choose the Tudor Black Bay GMT if you want a traveler-friendly GMT that lets you move the local hour independently, plus a 200m water-resistance rating and Tudor’s vintage-inspired design. Choose the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT if fit flexibility, a thinner case and lower cited prices matter more—and you are comfortable with caller-style GMT operation. The right choice depends chiefly on how you use the second time zone, how each case fits your wrist and whether the Tudor’s benefits justify its premium to you.
This comparison covers Tudor reference M79830RB-0010, a 41mm steel model, and Christopher Ward’s updated C63 Sealander GMT range in 36mm, 39mm and 42mm sizes. They are not identical in size, movement behavior or price.

How their GMT hands work—and why travelers should care
Tudor: independently adjust the local hour
The Black Bay GMT’s Manufacture Calibre MT5652 is described as a flyer GMT. Its local-hour hand can be adjusted independently while the reference time remains set. That makes it convenient when you arrive in a new time zone: move the local hour to match local time without resetting the reference time.

The C63’s cited Sellita SW330-2 is described as a caller GMT. You can adjust the 24-hour hand independently to display another time zone, while changing local time requires a fuller time-setting adjustment. That is a practical difference for frequent travelers who regularly change local time; it matters less if you mainly want to keep track of another time zone from home.
#1 Best Overall
- 41mm steel case with polished and satin finish
- Bidirectional rotatable bezel in steel with 24-hour graduated anodised aluminium disc
- Self-winding mechanical movement with 70 hour power reserve
Neither mechanism is inherently better for every wearer. The distinction is whether you expect to change the displayed local hour often or mostly leave it alone and use the GMT hand to monitor another zone.
Case size, thickness and fit
The Tudor reference has a 41mm diameter, 14.6mm thickness and 22mm lug width. The C63 range gives buyers three reported case sizes, with a notably thinner profile. Its lug-to-lug measurement helps show how much wrist length each size spans.

| Watch and size | Diameter | Thickness | Lug-to-lug | Lug width |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tudor Black Bay GMT M79830RB-0010 | 41mm | 14.6mm | Not stated on Tudor’s product page | 22mm |
| Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT | 36mm | 10.9mm | 42mm | Not stated in Fratello’s updated-range coverage |
| Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT | 39mm | 11.3mm | 45mm | Not stated in Fratello’s updated-range coverage |
| Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT | 42mm | 11.5mm | 48.5mm | Not stated in Fratello’s updated-range coverage |
The C63’s smaller sizes offer a route to a more restrained fit, while its 42mm option has a longer 48.5mm lug-to-lug span. The Tudor is substantially thicker than any of the three reported C63 sizes. Diameter alone cannot predict fit, so consider lug-to-lug length and thickness alongside wrist size and the amount of presence you want. If possible, try the Tudor on in person before buying.

| Specification | Tudor Black Bay GMT M79830RB-0010 | Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT |
|---|---|---|
| Water resistance | 200m, stated by Tudor | 150m, reported by Fratello Watches |
| Movement | Manufacture Calibre MT5652; COSC-certified, per Tudor | Sellita SW330-2, per Fratello Watches |
| Power reserve | Approximately 70 hours, stated by Tudor | 56 hours, reported by Fratello Watches |
Both watches are specified for substantial water resistance, but their ratings are not the same. The Tudor offers the higher stated rating and longer stated reserve; those specifications do not by themselves establish real-world accuracy, reliability or service needs.

Prices: a substantial premium, but not a direct currency comparison
Tudor’s US product page showed a suggested retail price of $5,275 for reference M79830RB-0010 on a steel bracelet and $4,925 for the cited fabric-strap configuration, accessed October 12, 2026. Tudor states that its listed prices are suggested retail prices. Fratello Watches reported the following euro prices for the updated C63 range in 2026:
| C63 configuration | Reported price |
|---|---|
| Leather strap | €1,350 |
| Rubber strap | €1,480 |
| Bader bracelet | €1,560 |
| Consort bracelet | €1,615 |
The figures come from different markets, sources and configurations, so they are not a like-for-like conversion or a guarantee of the price available where you live. Confirm the current local price and exact bracelet or strap configuration with the seller before ordering.

Guarantees and returns
Tudor lists a five-year transferable guarantee, with no registration or periodic maintenance checks required under its stated terms. Christopher Ward’s C63 product literature describes a 60-month movement guarantee and 60-day returns for unused watches subject to its conditions. Check the terms applicable to your country and purchase at the time of buying: return eligibility and guarantee coverage depend on the stated conditions.

Which one should you buy?
Choose the Tudor Black Bay GMT if…
- You travel often and want to adjust local time independently while preserving reference time.
- You prefer the Black Bay’s vintage-inspired design and value Tudor’s ownership appeal.
- The 200m water-resistance specification and approximately 70-hour stated reserve are priorities.
- You like the 41mm presence and are comfortable with a 14.6mm-thick case.
Choose the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT if…
- You want more choice in case size, with reported 36mm, 39mm and 42mm options.
- A thinner case is important for comfort or a lower-profile look.
- You want the lower prices reported for the C63 configurations and prefer its cleaner sport-watch design.
- A caller-style GMT works for how you use the second time zone, or you rarely need to change local time while traveling.
There is no universal winner: the Tudor’s traveler-oriented adjustment and design may be worth its higher cited price to the right buyer, while the C63 makes a stronger fit-and-value case for someone who does not need flyer-GMT operation. Decide based on your actual travel habits and wrist fit rather than the prestige or price alone.
