The Tudor Black Bay 41 METAS and the no-date Rolex Submariner 124060 share a 41 mm case and roughly 70-hour power reserve, but they differ in water-resistance rating, bezel material, bracelet adjustment and the way each brand states its accuracy standard. Neither specification sheet makes one the universal winner: the right choice depends on fit, features, certification priorities and current local pricing.
This comparison uses the Tudor Black Bay 41 METAS reference M7941A1A0RU-0003 on its five-link bracelet and the Rolex Submariner 124060. “Black Bay METAS” covers more than one configuration, and the Submariner Date is a separate comparison.

What does METAS certification mean—and how does it compare with Rolex’s accuracy claim?
Tudor says METAS Master Chronometer certification covers precision, magnetic resistance, water resistance and power reserve. Tudor describes an assembled-watch accuracy window of 0/+5 seconds per day, tested at two temperatures, in six positions and at two power-reserve levels: 100% and 33%. Its explanation also includes exposure to 15,000 gauss. Tudor says Swiss Made conformity and COSC certification of the movement are prerequisites. Read the full criteria on Tudor’s METAS Certification page.

- 41mm steel case with polished and satin finish
- Bidirectional rotatable bezel in steel with 24-hour graduated anodised aluminium disc
- Self-winding mechanical movement with 70 hour power reserve
Rolex calls the 124060 a Superlative Chronometer and states an accuracy range of -2/+2 seconds per day after casing. Rolex describes this as official chronometer certification followed by Rolex certification after casing. These figures are each brand’s stated standard; the available specifications do not establish that Rolex’s procedure and METAS testing are equivalent or directly interchangeable. Rolex’s description is in its official Submariner brochure.
What are the practical differences on the wrist?
Water resistance and everyday priorities
The Tudor is rated to 200 m, while the Submariner is rated to 300 m. That is a meaningful specification difference, but it does not by itself determine which watch is more suitable for a particular wearer. Consider the rating alongside the activities you actually plan to do and the watch’s fit and comfort.

Bezel and bracelet adjustment
The selected Tudor has a burgundy aluminum bezel insert; the Submariner has a black Cerachrom ceramic insert. Tudor’s five-link bracelet uses a T-fit clasp, while Rolex’s Oyster bracelet has Glidelock extension. Those features address adjustment in different ways, so try the clasp and bracelet if on-the-fly fit changes matter to you.
Size, thickness and date preference
Both watches are 41 mm across, but Tudor lists the cited Black Bay at 13.6 mm thick. Case diameter alone cannot tell you how either watch will sit on your wrist; compare thickness, lug reach and overall feel in person where possible. The Rolex 124060 is the no-date Submariner. If you want a date display, compare it with a Submariner Date model rather than assuming these specifications carry over.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Tudor as a stronger match if the burgundy aluminum bezel, five-link bracelet with T-fit, or Tudor’s stated METAS certification criteria best fit your preferences.
- Choose the Submariner as a stronger match if you prefer the black ceramic bezel, Glidelock bracelet extension, or its 300 m stated water-resistance rating.
- Try both on if thickness, bracelet comfort or wrist fit is decisive; the shared 41 mm diameter does not settle those questions.
- Compare current local prices and availability before buying. Price and stock vary by market and date, and the brands’ stated accuracy figures are not a direct head-to-head test.
Specifications do not establish comparative service costs, resale performance or a universal winner. Those should not be inferred from the product materials alone.

At the time Tudor’s U.S. product page was accessed in 2026, it displayed a suggested retail price of $5,450 for the cited five-link configuration and noted that prices and models may change. That is a U.S. displayed price at that time, not a current quote for every market. A comparable official Rolex price was not established here, so a price gap cannot be stated reliably.
