The Tudor Heritage Advisor’s mechanical alarm is set with the crown at 2 o’clock and switched on or off with the pusher at 8 o’clock. Its red hand shows the chosen alarm time, while a separate indicator at 3 o’clock tracks the alarm’s winding reserve. That reserve is distinct from the automatic movement’s power reserve.
How do you wind and set the Tudor Advisor alarm?
- Wind the alarm: Pull the crown at 2 o’clock out one notch and wind it manually until the power-reserve indicator at 3 o’clock shows full.
- Set the alarm time: Pull the same crown out a second notch and turn it clockwise until the red hand points to the desired time.
- Activate or deactivate it: Press the pusher at 8 o’clock to switch the alarm function on or off.
These steps follow Tudor’s official Advisor tutorial. In short, the crown has separate positions for winding and setting; the pusher controls whether the alarm is active.
What does the alarm display show?
The red hand is an alarm-time pointer, not the watch’s regular time display. The indicator at 3 o’clock shows the alarm’s reserve, so it tells you how much winding remains for the alarm mechanism. It is separate from the automatic movement’s reserve.
This two-reserve layout matters in use: winding the alarm does not mean the automatic movement has been wound to full, and the movement’s stated power reserve does not describe how long the alarm will sound.

How is the watch built?
The Heritage Advisor discussed in the 2016 hands-on reviews has a 42 mm titanium-and-steel case. Time+Tide describes an ETA 2892 base movement with an alarm module developed by Tudor. Monochrome’s 2016 review of the Cognac version likewise describes a Tudor 2892 with an alarm mechanism developed exclusively by Tudor.
For that Cognac version, Monochrome lists an automatic movement reserve of 42 hours, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, a date, an alarm on/off indication, and an alarm-reserve indication. The 42-hour figure belongs to the automatic movement; the reviewed sources do not establish a dependable alarm-running duration as a specification.

Reference details can differ. A retailer listing for the later M79620T identifies Calibre T401 and Tudor’s additional alarm mechanism. That reference-specific listing should not be treated as proof that every Heritage Advisor reference uses the same calibre.
What do reviewers say about the sound?
Time+Tide’s hands-on reviewer wrote that the alarm “doesn’t slowly fade away – rather it ends abruptly.” That is the reviewer’s reported impression, not an independently repeated sound test here.

- 41mm steel case with polished and satin finish
- Bidirectional rotatable bezel in steel with 24-hour graduated anodised aluminium disc
- Self-winding mechanical movement with 70 hour power reserve
Monochrome described the alarm as loud and reported an approximate duration of 10 seconds. This is a reviewer-reported observation from its 2016 article, not an official Tudor duration specification. The available sources do not establish an alarm-running time that should be assumed for every watch or condition.
Does the 42 mm case wear large, and is the alarm useful?
The case diameter is 42 mm, but that dimension alone does not establish how the watch will wear on a particular wrist. The cited material offers no wrist measurements or comparable fit test, so try the specific watch on if case presence is a concern.

Whether the alarm is useful depends on your routine and tolerance for a mechanical alarm’s operation. The controls provide a dedicated alarm-time hand and a separate reserve indication; the cited reviewers’ comments describe sound and ending behavior but do not establish that every owner will find the alarm loud enough or convenient for a particular setting.

Monochrome lists 100 m water resistance for the Cognac variant it reviewed in 2016. Treat that as the source’s specification for that version, not a guarantee for a particular watch today: condition, maintenance, and the reference matter when assessing a used example.

Current production status, prices, retailer stock, and Amazon availability have not been verified. Before buying, confirm the exact reference and its current condition with the seller; for a pre-owned watch, ask for service and water-resistance information rather than relying on a historical review specification.
