1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe Tudor Ranger Dune White and Christopher Ward C65 Dune Automatic share a pale, field-watch look, but they make different practical trade-offs. Tudor offers a choice of 36mm and 39mm cases, COSC-certified movements with approximately 70 hours of power reserve, and 100m water resistance. The C65 Dune Automatic is 38mm, has a 38-hour reserve, and is rated to 150m. Choose by fit and priorities—not by treating either water-resistance figure as a guarantee for every activity.
What exactly is being compared?
Tudor’s “Dune white” Ranger is documented in two sizes: reference M79930-0008 at 36mm and M79950-0008 at 39mm. Tudor’s specification field describes the dial as beige, so “Dune white” is the brand’s color name rather than a promise of a bright white face. Tudor Ranger 36mm · Tudor Ranger 39mm
The Christopher Ward comparison is the C65 Dune Automatic as described in its owner’s handbook. The handbook identifies the Dune collection as inspired by Dune du Pilat in Aquitaine and describes the Automatic as drawing on mid-20th-century sports and field watches. It does not establish a currently available matching dial-and-bracelet configuration, current price, or stock status; confirm those details with Christopher Ward before comparing live offers. - VH SWEEP QUARTZ MOVEMENT: Powered by a VH31/VH60 quartz movement, this ML05 variation delivers smooth sweep-style seconds motion with the convenience and dependable timekeeping of quartz. The fluid hand movement gives the dial a refined mechanical-style appearance, while battery-powered operation keeps everyday use simple and low maintenance.
- SUPER C3 GREEN LUME FOR CLEAR READING: Super C3 luminous material is applied to key dial elements to support quick time reading after exposure to light. The green glow complements the bold Arabic numerals and 12/24-hour field layout without changing the restrained vintage character of the dial, making the display easy to follow during changing light conditions.
- 100M WATER RESISTANCE AND SCREW-DOWN CROWN: The ML05 is rated to 100M for added confidence around handwashing, rain and routine daily water exposure. Its screw-down crown helps reinforce the case seal and is an important distinction of the ML05 design. Keep the crown fully secured before water contact, and do not operate it while wet or submerged.
- COMPACT 38MM PROPORTIONS: The case measures 38mm in diameter without the crown, approximately 46–47.5mm lug to lug depending on the case style, and 10.5mm thick including the domed crystal, with a 20mm lug width. These balanced dimensions give this men’s field watch a compact wrist presence while keeping the dial clear and easy to read.
- SANDBLASTED 316L STEEL FIELD-WATCH DESIGN: The low-reflection case finish, bold Arabic numerals and inner 12/24-hour scale give the ML05 a functional vintage character. Its restrained profile works easily as an everyday field watch, while the 20mm lug width makes it simple to pair with a wide range of compatible straps.
Which one is likely to fit better?
Pick the Tudor 36mm for a smaller, more compact case
At 36mm wide and 11mm thick, the smaller Ranger is the most compact option by diameter and thickness. Its 19mm lug width also means it does not share the 20mm width listed for the 39mm Ranger and C65. That measurement matters when selecting straps, but width alone cannot establish whether a particular strap or end link will fit.
Consider the C65’s published length, not just its 38mm diameter
The C65 handbook gives a 43.6mm lug-to-lug measurement, a useful fit dimension not stated on the cited Tudor product pages. Its 38mm diameter sits between the two Rangers, but diameter alone cannot determine how a watch wears; case shape, lug reach, and your wrist all matter.

- Smooth Sweeping Seconds: The VH quartz movement advances the seconds hand four times per second for smoother visual motion, while the no-date layout keeps the dial clean.
- Compact 38 mm Case: The 316L stainless steel case measures 38mm across, 44.5mm lug to lug and 10.2mm thick including the crystal for balanced everyday proportions.
- DOUBLE-DOMED SAPPHIRE: The sapphire crystal offers strong scratch resistance, while the high-clarity AR coating helps reduce reflections and supports a clear dial view.
- 100M WATER RESISTANCE: A screw-down crown and screw-down case back support 10 bar / 100m water resistance. Fully secure the crown before contact with water.
- WHITE YELLOW DIAL: C3 green lume on the dial, hands and markers supports low-light reading after light exposure. The black nylon strap provides a lightweight field-watch fit, and the 20mm lug width supports future strap changes.
Choose the Tudor 39mm if you prefer the larger Ranger
The 39mm Ranger is 12mm thick and has 20mm lug width. It is the larger of Tudor’s documented Dune White options, though only trying it on alongside the C65 can settle which proportions work better for you.
Which has the longer power reserve?
Tudor lists approximately 70 hours for both Ranger sizes; the C65 handbook lists 38 hours. On the stated figures, the Rangers offer roughly 32 additional hours before the movement needs winding again. That can be useful if you rotate watches and want the Ranger to keep running through a longer break from wrist wear.

- 316L Stainless Steel Case with durable Canvas Strap
- Japanese Quartz Movement with Caliber: VX42
- Sapphire Crystal With Anti-Reflective Coating
- Analog Display with Luminous Hands
- Approximate Case Diameter: 40mm | Case Thickness: 9.1mm | Lug Width: 20mm
The Ranger movements are identified as Tudor manufacture calibres MT5400 and MT5402 and are COSC-certified. The C65 handbook specifies a Sellita SW200-1. Those are published specifications, not independent head-to-head accuracy or durability test results.
Which has better water resistance?
The C65 handbook rates the watch to 15 ATM / 150m, compared with 100m for either Ranger. That gives the C65 the higher published rating, but a rating is not a blanket promise that every water activity is appropriate. Follow the maker’s care guidance, including instructions about operating the crown and maintaining water resistance.

- INDIGLO Backlight: INDIGLO night light allows you to tell the time in the dark with the push of a button
- Water-Resistant: Safe to 30 m / 100 ft — withstands splashes or brief immersion, but not suitable for swimming or bathing
How do the guarantees and returns compare?
Tudor publishes a five-year transferable guarantee and says registration or periodic maintenance checks are not required. The C65 handbook describes a 60-month movement guarantee and a 60-day return period for an unused watch subject to its stated conditions. The headline guarantee durations are both five years, but the wording and scope are not identical. Check the current official terms and the rules for your country before purchase.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Tudor Ranger worth more than the C65 Dune?
The available figures do not support a reliable current-value verdict. Tudor’s cited 39mm US page showed a suggested retail price of $4,025 when accessed in 2026, with Tudor noting that prices may change. The official C65 handbook contains no price, and it does not confirm today’s availability or the exact matching configuration. Without a verified, like-for-like current C65 price and specification, a direct value comparison would be speculative.

How to choose between them
- Choose the Ranger 36mm if you want the smallest documented case, COSC certification, and approximately 70 hours of stated reserve.
- Choose the Ranger 39mm if you prefer Tudor’s larger size and the same published movement reserve and guarantee terms as the 36mm model.
- Consider the C65 Dune Automatic if its 38mm case, documented 43.6mm lug-to-lug, glass-box sapphire, or higher published water-resistance rating better suits your preferences.
- Before deciding on the C65, verify the exact dial, bracelet or strap, current price, and stock with Christopher Ward; the handbook alone cannot confirm them.
- Try them on when possible. The case diameters are close, but the available lug-to-lug data is not equally complete, and measurements alone do not determine wrist fit.
