The two earlier models shared the range’s notched bezel, integrated five-row bracelet and core case specifications, but differed in movement and display: the 41 mm used calibre T603 with day and date, while the 38 mm used calibre T601 with a date only.
Where the 41 mm and 38 mm models fit
Tudor introduced the Royal as a “sport-chic” line positioned, in the brand’s words, at the “crossroads between classic and sports watches.” Its debut-era range included 41 mm, 38 mm, 34 mm and 28 mm sizes; this comparison focuses on the 41 mm and 38 mm. Tudor’s current Royal collection overview lists 30 mm, 36 mm and 40 mm sizes, and the brand’s press room includes a section titled “Tudor Royal – New watches 2026.” These current listings should not be confused with the earlier 41 mm and 38 mm specifications.
The “sport-chic” description and the quoted positioning are Tudor’s presentation of the range, not an independent assessment. The debut-era details below come from Tudor’s 2020 Royal press kit.
How the 41 mm and 38 mm models compare
| Feature | Royal 41 mm | Royal 38 mm |
|---|---|---|
| Reference family in Tudor material | 28600/3 | 28500/3 |
| Movement | Self-winding calibre T603 | Self-winding calibre T601 |
| Day display | Day at 12 o’clock | Not listed for this size |
| Date | Date at 3 o’clock | Date at 3 o’clock |
| Case | 316L steel, polished and satin-finished | 316L steel, polished and satin-finished |
| Crystal and water resistance | Sapphire crystal; 100 m (330 ft) | Sapphire crystal; 100 m (330 ft) |
| Bracelet | Integrated five-row steel or steel/yellow-gold | Integrated five-row steel or steel/yellow-gold |
| Listed power reserve | Approximately 38 hours | Approximately 38 hours |
For the 41 mm, the additional day indication at 12 o’clock is the clearest functional distinction. Both sizes have a date at 3 o’clock. Tudor lists the day display for the 41 mm model only; the 38 mm entry does not list one. The approximate 38-hour power reserve is a manufacturer specification for the movement family, not a real-world test result.

Shared design and materials
The Royal’s most recognizable design feature is its notched bezel, formed by alternating grooves and polished surfaces. Tudor paired it with an integrated bracelet of five rows, offered in steel or steel and yellow gold. The case is 316L steel with polished and satin finishes, and the kit specifies a sapphire crystal and 100 m (330 ft) water resistance for both sizes.
Tudor’s 2020 press kit lists sunray-finished black, silver, champagne-colour and blue dials, with Roman numerals. It lists mother-of-pearl dials only for the 34 mm and 28 mm models, so that option should not be attributed to the 41 mm or 38 mm based on this kit.

Movement figures and historical prices
Tudor’s 2020 press kit gives the Royal movement family an approximate 38-hour power reserve, an oscillator frequency of 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hz), and 25 jewels. These are published technical specifications, not independent measurements.
The same kit lists Swiss prices including VAT of CHF 2,800, CHF 3,300, CHF 3,850 and CHF 4,500. Those are historical Swiss prices from 2020; the text does not reliably match each amount to a particular size or configuration, so none should be treated as the price of a specific 41 mm or 38 mm variant—or as a current price.

Choosing between the debut-era sizes
If comparing these historical versions, the decision is mainly about preferred wrist presence and the extra day display: the 41 mm is larger and includes a day indication, while the 38 mm is smaller and has a date display. That is a design and function distinction, not a measured fit recommendation; wrist comfort depends on the wearer and the individual watch. Tudor’s current published Royal sizes are 30 mm, 36 mm and 40 mm, rather than 41 mm and 38 mm.
