The Tusenö Shellback V2 is a compactly sized, automatic dive-style watch with a stated 200 m water-resistance rating and a distinctive enamel sandwich dial. Its listed 40 mm case, 47 mm lug-to-lug length and current Shellback Black specification make it a plausible everyday choice for someone who wants diver styling without a particularly long case. Whether it is worth buying depends on your wrist fit, preference for its polished design, and the live price and warranty terms you can confirm with Tusenö.
What is Tusenö, and which watch is this review about?
Tusenö is a Swedish independent watch brand. The Shellback is its diver-style line; the Shellback Black is the clearest entry point for assessing the current listed V2 specification. The brand also makes watches with a very different character: its Supervintage collection is a colorful, cocktail-inspired dress-watch line.
This review focuses on the Shellback Black’s maker-published specifications and uses published hands-on coverage for context. It does not claim personal handling, timing, or underwater testing.

What the dimensions and design mean in daily wear
Compact length, moderate diameter
A 40 mm diameter paired with a 47 mm lug-to-lug measurement is a relatively restrained footprint for a watch styled as a diver. The lug-to-lug figure is particularly useful if your wrist is short or if you dislike lugs extending to the edges of your wrist. Fit still depends on wrist shape, bracelet articulation and personal preference, so try it on if possible.
The listed 11.9 mm thickness excludes the sapphire crystal. That means it is not a complete crystal-inclusive height for comparing against watches whose thickness is quoted differently. The double-domed crystal is part of the watch’s profile, so consider how it may sit under a close-fitting cuff rather than treating 11.9 mm as the whole story.

Polished black, enamel and a luminous bezel
The black high-polished enamel sandwich dial and polished black ceramic bezel give the Shellback a dressier, more reflective appearance than a fully brushed tool-watch design. The bezel’s luminous markings and the dial’s layered construction provide the defining visual contrast. Buyers who want a low-gloss, utilitarian diver may find the polished surfaces less appealing; those looking for a distinctive black dial may see them as the point.

The bracelet’s 20-to-18 mm taper narrows toward the clasp, which can make the bracelet look less visually heavy than a straight-width design. If you plan to switch to a strap, confirm lug width, spring-bar type and model-specific fit rather than assuming any 20 mm strap will work.
What 200 m water resistance does—and does not—establish
Tusenö lists 20 ATM / 200 m water resistance, a screw-in crown and a dive-style bezel. These are specifications, not evidence that this writer tested the watch underwater. Water resistance also depends on the watch’s condition and properly secured components; follow the manufacturer’s guidance and have seals checked as appropriate before relying on it in water.

Movement and the discrepancy in published specifications
The current official Shellback Black page lists the Sellita SW200-2 Power+ Elaboré with a 65-hour reserve and the regulation figures shown above. Fratello’s May 12, 2025 hands-on article, covering yellow and black/gilt Shellback V2 examples, instead reports an SW200-1 and 38-hour reserve, alongside 40 mm diameter, 47 mm lug-to-lug, 13.1 mm thickness including crystal and 200 m water resistance.
Those movement and reserve figures differ. The sources concern a current product listing and particular variants covered in 2025, respectively; do not treat them as interchangeable specifications for every Shellback V2. For the Shellback Black as currently listed, use Tusenö’s page and confirm the exact movement configuration with the seller for the specific watch you are ordering.

What published hands-on coverage says about the Shellback V2
In its May 2025 article, Fratello’s Jorg Weppelink said he wore the yellow and black/gilt versions for a week and preferred black/gilt; colleague Nacho preferred yellow. Fratello labels the article a partnership post, so these are attributed editorial preferences, not independent testing or a universal verdict. The comparison is useful chiefly as a reminder that the dial color materially changes the watch’s character. Read the Shellback V2 hands-on article for the authors’ account.

Tusenö’s Shellback Black page states a two-year warranty from delivery and names service partners in Sweden or Switzerland. Before paying, verify what the warranty covers, how to start a claim from your country, and whether shipping or other service costs apply; the published listing alone does not establish those details for every buyer.
The same product page displayed a 4.7 rating from 212 customer reviews when accessed in 2026. That is the brand page’s displayed customer-review figure, not an independently audited rating. Trustpilot’s profile showed a 4.0 TrustScore from three reviews in a 2026 snapshot, and noted that the company had not invited reviews and had received no reviews in the prior 12 months. That sample is too small and potentially unrepresentative for a broad judgment of quality or service. See the Trustpilot profile in that context.

How the Supervintage differs
Supervintage is not an alternative Shellback variant: it is a separate, more colorful dress-watch collection. Fratello’s July 16, 2025 hands-on article covered three cocktail-inspired versions—Negroni, Mojito and Espresso Martini—and listed a 34.5 mm stainless-steel case, 40.5 mm lug-to-lug, double-curved sapphire, hand-wound ETA 7001 movement, 42-hour power reserve, 30 m water resistance, leather straps and a time-only display with small seconds.
The article’s author said he wore all three for a couple of days and ultimately favored Negroni. The article is labeled a partnership post, so that preference is one writer’s impression. Its US$899 preorder offer, dated July 30 to August 6, 2025, and US$999 regular price are historical launch pricing, not current quotes. Details and the attributed impressions appear in Fratello’s Supervintage hands-on article.
Who should consider the Shellback?
- Consider it if you want an automatic watch with diver styling, a stated 200 m water-resistance rating, a 40 mm case and a 47 mm lug-to-lug measurement.
- It may suit you if you like the reflective black enamel and ceramic details more than a subdued, brushed tool-watch look.
- Look elsewhere if you need verified current pricing or service terms before deciding and cannot confirm them with the brand, or if you prefer a manual-winding dress watch with a smaller case and less water resistance—Supervintage is a distinct option to compare, not a substitute diver.
- Try it on if possible if your fit depends on exact crystal-inclusive height, bracelet drape or the way 40 mm wears on your wrist.
Verdict: is the Tusenö Shellback V2 worth buying?
The Shellback Black makes a coherent case for buyers who want a compactly proportioned, automatic diver-style watch and are drawn to its polished black design. Its listed 200 m rating, 65-hour reserve and 47 mm lug-to-lug are attractive on paper, but they remain manufacturer specifications; the published hands-on impressions are partnership coverage, and current price and availability must be checked directly. If those design and fit choices match your preferences and the current warranty and price work for you, it is worth shortlisting. If you want a confirmed tool-watch test record or a less polished aesthetic, this evidence does not establish that the Shellback is the right match.
