Independent reviewers found the earlier V2 comfortable and praised its dial and clasp; the current V2.1 adds a longer stated power reserve and updated movement specification. Whether it is worth buying depends on the exact version, its current delivery status and the total cost where you live.
What makes the Shellback stand out?
The Shellback is Tusenö’s Swedish automatic dive-watch line. Its design follows a recognizable diver format, but the dial details give it a more individual look: a sandwich construction, luminous minute track and distinctive hand shapes. Time+Tide reviewer Jamie Weiss called the dial the watch’s most attractive feature, while Monochrome Watches also highlighted the dial and lumed minute track. Those are reviewer impressions, not objective measures of legibility or finish.
On the black V2.1, Tusenö specifies a polished enamel sandwich dial, a polished black ceramic bezel insert and double-domed sapphire with inner anti-reflective coating. The brand lists Grade A and X1 BGW9 Swiss Super-LumiNova. Independent V2 coverage also notes polished case chamfers and the contrast of the luminous details, though those hands-on observations concern the earlier version.
How does the Shellback wear?
Dimensions and wrist fit
Tusenö lists the black V2.1 at 40 mm in diameter, 47 mm lug-to-lug and 11.9 mm thick, excluding the domed sapphire crystal. The 47 mm span and curved lugs were described as approachable by Time+Tide’s Jamie Weiss in the V2 review. WatchReport’s reviewer wore a pre-production V2 on a 7.5-inch wrist and found it comfortable; that is one reviewer’s experience, not a fit guarantee for every wrist.

Bracelet adjustment
The V2.1 bracelet tapers from 20 mm to 18 mm and includes a diver clasp with hidden on-the-fly adjustment, according to Tusenö. Time+Tide, WatchReport and Monochrome each praised the tool-free micro-adjustment on the V2 bracelet. That feature lets the wearer make a small fit change without a tool; it does not establish that the entire bracelet is tool-free to size.

How does V2.1 differ from the earlier V2?
The main clearly documented change is the movement specification and its stated reserve. Tusenö lists the V2.1 with a Sellita SW200-2 Power+ Elaboré and a 65-hour reserve. Reviews of the earlier V2 describe a Sellita SW200 with a 38-hour reserve. The figures refer to different versions, so they should not be treated as contradictory claims about one watch.
The core dimensions remain consistent in the available descriptions: the current black V2.1 is 40 mm across and 47 mm lug-to-lug, while the V2 reviews also report 40 by 47 mm. The reviewed V2 and listed V2.1 share a 200 m water-resistance rating and bracelet tapering from 20 to 18 mm. The official black V2.1 page gives its thickness as 11.9 mm excluding the crystal; the cited V2 reviews do not provide a directly comparable thickness figure.

- DIVER-INSPIRED DESIGN — Inspired by the sea, the MDV-106G is styled after classic dive watches and delivers 200-meter water resistance at an unbeatable price point. The black resin band and stainless steel case give it a classic look, while the anti-reverse rotary bezel adds authentic dive-watch character.
- STAINLESS STEEL CASE WITH SCREW-LOCK CROWN & CASEBACK — The MDV-106G features a stainless steel case and a reliable screw-lock crown for enhanced water resistance protection. Screw-down crown and screw-lock caseback work together to keep the movement sealed and secure during water activities — a construction standard found on dive watches far above this price range.
- LARGE FLUORESCENT HANDS & INDICES FOR INSTANT READABILITY — The dial features hands and hour indices with large fluorescent areas for easy reading in low-light and underwater conditions. The clean 3-hand analog layout with date display at 3 o'clock keeps the dial uncluttered and immediately legible at a glance.
- 44MM STAINLESS STEEL CASE | 22MM LUG WIDTH | MINERAL GLASS — The case measures 44mm in diameter, 12mm in height, with a 49mm lug-to-lug length and a standard 22mm lug width — making strap upgrades effortless with a vast range of aftermarket options. Mineral glass protects the dial from everyday scratches and impacts.
- 3-YEAR BATTERY & 200M WATER RESISTANCE — Powered by an SR626SW battery with an approximate 3-year life, the case measures 49.5 × 46.3 × 12.1mm and weighs 92 grams. At 200 meters of water resistance, the Duro is versatile and suitable for all situations — whether in the water, hiking, running, or at the office.
Earlier coverage also documents different color and material configurations, including blue, white and DLC versions. Those historical descriptions and preorder prices do not establish the current configuration, price or availability of a V2.1 colorway.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you fit a rubber strap?
The cited sources do not establish that a particular rubber strap is included with the current V2.1 or confirm universal strap compatibility. Time+Tide lists a 20 mm lug width for the V2, and Tusenö lists a 20-to-18 mm bracelet taper for V2.1; bracelet width at the clasp is not the same as lug width. Check the lug width of your exact version and confirm fit with Tusenö before buying a replacement strap. Watch LIFE NEWS reported that a Tropic-style rubber strap was included with the V2 White preorder it covered in 2024, but that is a historical, version-specific offer.

Price and availability depend on the variant
On October 7, 2026, Tusenö’s US-facing black V2.1 page showed the watch as preorder with estimated delivery in Q1 2027. The brand’s Swedish white V2.1 page showed $899 and “in stock” on that same date. These are different colorways and pages, not a single universal price or availability promise. Check the relevant product page for your market before ordering: Shellback Black V2.1 and Shellback White V2.1.
Tusenö’s black-page note says checkout excludes Swedish VAT for non-EU orders and that local import duties and taxes may be charged by the carrier; it estimates about 15% for US orders. That estimate is page-specific and may not reflect the final charge for every destination or order. Factor any applicable taxes, delivery timing and the two-year warranty into the delivered cost.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Is the Tusenö Shellback worth buying?
The Shellback is worth considering if you want a 40 mm automatic diver with a more distinctive dial than a plain instrument-style face, a ceramic bezel, a manufacturer-rated 200 m resistance and a bracelet with on-the-fly adjustment. Independent V2 reviews give useful support for the comfort and dial appeal, but they do not amount to hands-on testing of the current V2.1.
Before deciding, verify which version and color you are buying, the current movement and delivery details, and the final cost for your location. The available sources do not establish a supported head-to-head winner against other dive watches, so the strongest basis for a decision is fit, design preference, version-specific specifications and current buying terms.
