The one-off Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra made for the 50th anniversary of Goldfinger sold at Christie’s on 17 September 2014. The often-cited figure of about $113,000 was a contemporary conversion of its £70,000 hammer price—not the final total paid. Christie’s archive lists £86,500 realised, including buyer’s premium.
What did the Goldfinger Omega sell for?
Christie’s recorded a hammer price of £70,000 for Lot 3 in its Goldfinger: The 50th Anniversary sale. Its lot archive reports £86,500 realised; Christie’s sale-total convention includes the hammer price plus buyer’s premium. The two figures describe different stages of the same auction result, not competing estimates. Christie’s lot record
Contemporary coverage converted the £70,000 hammer price to approximately $113,000 and CHF 106,000. These are historical approximate currency conversions reported in 2014. The $113,000 headline figure is therefore not the total including buyer’s premium, and neither amount is a current appraisal or an indication of what the watch would sell for today. aBlogtoWatch’s 2014 report
When and where was it sold?
The unique watch was Lot 3 in Christie’s Goldfinger: The 50th Anniversary sale, which closed on 17 September 2014. Christie’s announced the sale to benefit the NSPCC, the UK child-protection charity. Before the auction, the house estimated the watch at £8,000–£12,000; the estimate is distinct from both the hammer price and the realised total. Christie’s lot record · Christie’s sale announcement

What made this Aqua Terra unique?
Christie’s described the lot as a unique 18-karat yellow-gold Seamaster Aqua Terra created for the film’s anniversary. It was based on the Aqua Terra Master Co-Axial design, but this Goldfinger edition was a one-off rather than a retail model. That does not mean the broader Aqua Terra family is unique; it is this specific anniversary watch that was made as a single piece. aBlogtoWatch

What was the charity connection?
Christie’s identified the NSPCC as the sale’s beneficiary. A retailer article published the following day reported approximately $223,570 in proceeds for the charity, attributing that amount to Christie’s; the primary Christie’s records cited here confirm the beneficiary but do not independently establish that proceeds figure. Can this result be used to value another Aqua Terra?
Not on its own. This was a charity sale of a unique, precious-metal watch with film-anniversary provenance, not a market study or a representative sale of ordinary Aqua Terra models. A meaningful comparison would need to account for the specific watch’s provenance and uniqueness, metal, movement and magnetic specification, case size and condition, included box and documentation, sale date, and whether the quoted price is hammer or realised including buyer’s premium. The available auction record does not establish a current valuation or a comparable-sales trend.
