Its 2025 collection places the brand in a collector-focused tier through Danish historical identity, Swiss-based hand-finished watchmaking, technically distinctive movements and a cultural storytelling strategy. Launch prices ranged from CHF 105,000 to CHF 368,000, according to WatchTime; those are launch-era figures, not confirmed current prices. There is early recognition, including a major industry prize for the UJ-2, but no published sales or market-share data establishing the scale of its commercial success.
Where Urban Jürgensen sits in the market
The clearest description is independent haute horlogerie for collectors. The brand’s relaunch combines complex or unusual mechanics, traditional decorative craft and a tightly positioned three-watch collection at prices far above most luxury watches. Its proposition is not simply a Danish heritage label: the heritage is Danish, while the present atelier and watchmaking operation are based in Switzerland.
That positioning gives buyers four useful ways to assess the house alongside other independent high-watchmaking brands:
- Price and offer: launch pricing put the collection firmly at the high end, with precious-metal watches and limited production for the UJ-1.
- Movement identity: the collection emphasizes proprietary mechanics, including a double-wheel natural escapement and a tourbillon with remontoir d’égalité and dead-beat seconds.
- Execution: hand-guilloché dials and hand finishing are central to the brand’s stated craft proposition.
- Provenance and access: the house draws on its Copenhagen history and named watchmaking expertise, while developing its Swiss atelier and collector-facing presence.
This is a framework for comparison, not a claim that Urban Jürgensen is superior, more exclusive or more valuable than any specific rival. The available sources do not establish a market-share figure, audited sales, production scale or independent valuation.

What the 2025 collection offers
The relaunch collection has three distinct roles: a technical halo piece, a restrained three-hand watch and a calendar complication. WatchTime reported the following launch prices and UJ-1 production figures; availability and current regional prices have not been confirmed.
| Model | Position in the collection | Key proposition | Launch price and production |
|---|---|---|---|
| UJ-1 | Technical halo watch | Tourbillon, remontoir d’égalité and dead-beat seconds architecture adapted for a wristwatch | CHF 368,000; 75 pieces total across three references, 25 per reference (WatchTime, 2025) |
| UJ-2 | Three-hand model and collection entry point | Double-wheel natural escapement; hand-guilloché dial | CHF 105,000 (WatchTime, 2025) |
| UJ-3 | Calendar complication | Perpetual calendar and instantaneous moon phase, developed with Andreas Strehler | CHF 168,000 (WatchTime, 2025) |
Bloomberg described the overall launch range as approximately US$125,000 to more than US$400,000 in June 2025. The two publications report different currencies and rounded ranges; neither figure should be treated as a current quote. For current price and availability, the brand’s official site directs buyers to its inquiry flow: Urban Jürgensen.
UJ-1: the technical flagship
The UJ-1 carries the collection’s most overtly technical proposition. Its architecture brings together a tourbillon, remontoir d’égalité and dead-beat seconds in a wristwatch interpretation of historically significant watchmaking. Its limited 75-piece total across three references supports a scarce-production positioning, but does not establish resale performance or investment value.

UJ-2: the restrained watch with a distinctive escapement
The UJ-2 is the least expensive of the three at launch and the most conventional in broad layout: a three-hand watch. Its distinguishing argument is the double-wheel natural escapement. The brand’s launch materials said the system offers up to 30% more power efficiency than a traditional Swiss lever escapement. That is a maker-stated comparison, not an independently validated test result. Europa Star reported that each UJ-2 required 565 hours to complete, also a brand-reported production figure.

UJ-3: complication and astronomical display
The UJ-3 pairs a perpetual calendar with an instantaneous moon-phase display developed with Andreas Strehler. Launch reporting gave the moon-phase indication a claimed accuracy interval of 14,000 years. Treat that as a stated specification, not as an independently verified result.
Why the relaunch is a new era, not a new brand from scratch
Urban Jürgensen traces its origins to Copenhagen in 1773 and links its history to generations of Jürgensen family watchmakers, the Danish royal court and the Danish Navy. Its later history includes a revival under Peter Baumberger and Derek Pratt. CNA Luxury reports that Baumberger hired Kari Voutilainen in 1996 to develop wristwatch movements. Andy Rosenfield and investors acquired the company in 2021, creating the ownership base for the latest relaunch.

The public collection relaunched in June 2025. At launch, Kari Voutilainen and Alex Rosenfield were presented as co-CEOs, with Voutilainen directing design, technical development and production. That was the launch-era arrangement. CNA Luxury reported a changed structure by December 2025: Alex Rosenfield became CEO, Andy Rosenfield executive chairman, and Voutilainen a board member and senior strategic advisor who remains involved in product development and finishing standards.
The distinction matters to the brand’s market identity. Urban Jürgensen can draw on a long Danish story, but its current watchmaking should not be described as Danish manufacture. In March 2026, Alex Rosenfield described executive operations as primarily in the United States and an atelier in Biel, Switzerland.

Early recognition and the limits of what it proves
Europa Star reports that the UJ-2 won the 2025 GPHG Men’s Watch Prize. Rosenfield told the publication that the award amplified visibility. It is meaningful early recognition for a relaunched house and strengthens the UJ-2’s profile among collectors. It does not show how many watches sold, whether the brand has captured a particular share of the market, or how its watches perform on the secondary market.

- CLASSIC WHITE DIAL WITH BLUE HANDS – Clean white dial with striking blue hands and bold Arabic numerals for easy reading at a glance. Vintage-inspired design that draws compliments. A timeless aesthetic that works equally well for business or casual wear. 40mm case size offers substantial wrist presence without being overwhelming
- AUTOMATIC SELF-WINDING MOVEMENT – Powered by wrist motion during wear, no battery needed. Manual winding available as backup for occasional use. For optimal performance, wear regularly or hand-wind 15-20 turns daily. Note: Power reserve may not last overnight without regular wear or winding
- SCRATCH-RESISTANT MINERAL GLASS – Reinforced mineral crystal resists scratches and scuffs from daily wear. Clear exhibition case back lets you view the intricate mechanical movement. Durable construction for reliable everyday use
- COMFORTABLE BROWN PU LEATHER STRAP – Soft, flexible PU leather strap designed for all-day comfort. Adjustable buckle closure fits most wrist sizes. 20mm strap width complements the classic dial design. (Note: For extended durability, avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.)
- VERSATILE & EASY-TO-READ DESIGN – Bold numerals and contrasting blue hands ensure quick time reading in various lighting conditions. 13mm slim profile fits comfortably under shirt cuffs. Ideal for work, weekends, travel, or casual outings. 3ATM splash-resistant for hand-washing and light rain
The same distinction applies to public attention and cultural positioning. The brand’s “Time Well Spent” portrait series and broader artistic associations extend its storytelling beyond conventional product advertising. Rosenfield described an aim to combine technical innovation with decorative tradition and reach beyond traditional watchmaking circles. Those choices clarify the intended audience and identity; they are not evidence of commercial scale.

In a March 2026 Europa Star interview, Rosenfield said Biel workshop staffing had grown from six to 25 employees. He also described a Geneva workshop-showroom as being developed. The showroom was reported as planned, not confirmed open. Together, the staffing report and proposed space indicate investment in watchmaking capacity and collector access, but do not by themselves establish output, delivery times or sales growth.
For prospective buyers, the official website currently offers a watch inquiry form with UJ-1, UJ-2 and UJ-3 selections. The sources reviewed do not verify a complete authorised retailer list or establish that Amazon is an authorised sales channel. Ask the brand directly about current availability, regional pricing, delivery and servicing arrangements before making a purchase decision.

How to judge Urban Jürgensen as a collector
At this price tier, a sound assessment should separate the watch’s appeal from assumptions about the company’s future performance. Consider:
- Movement and complication: decide whether the escapement, tourbillon architecture or calendar display matters to your collecting interests, rather than relying on complexity alone.
- Finishing and design: inspect the specific watch and its dial and movement execution, and clarify what is hand-finished on the delivered reference.
- Maker and brand provenance: weigh the house’s documented history and the current team’s roles without treating historical continuity as unchanged ownership or management.
- Service and access: confirm who will handle servicing in your region, how the brand supports owners and whether a showroom or retailer is currently operating.
- Commercial risk: buy for the watch and the experience of ownership, not on an assumption of appreciation. The available reporting does not provide independent evidence of resale trends or investment returns.
