The original Farer Lomond gives a traditional field-watch layout a brighter personality: a navy dial is set off by a vivid blue seconds hand and a red pointer-date hand. Time+Tide’s 2021 hands-on review reported a 38.5mm case, 200m water resistance and an automatic Sellita SW221 movement. This is the original Lomond, not the later Lomond II.
What makes the original Lomond stand out?
Field watches are often restrained in colour. The Lomond keeps the familiar, legible layout but adds contrast where it counts: a navy dial, luminous indices and numerals, a bright blue seconds hand and a red pointer-date hand. The red hand ends in a Farer logo detail, making the date display a visual feature as well as a practical one.
Time+Tide author Thor Svaboe summed up the design as: “Judicious use of colour can really change a good tool watch, adding a personal touch and a truckload of welcome fun.” That is the reviewer’s aesthetic judgment, not a measurement; the concrete appeal is the contrast between the otherwise traditional dial and its blue and red accents.

Farer describes its updated field watches as sequels to the original trio from 2021, noting that most things changed. The current collection page gives collection-level specifications, not a revised specification sheet for the original Lomond.

Farer’s current page says the new field collection launches in late 2026 and invites visitors to register for updates. It does not give an exact launch date or prices, so the 2021 Lomond’s $995 publication-time price is not a guide to current pricing or availability.

Is the Farer Lomond the right kind of field watch?
- Consider it for its design if you want a conventional field-watch dial with more colour and a pointer-date display.
