The URWERK UR-220 “Falcon Project” pairs the brand’s wandering-hour display with a manually wound movement. Three rotating hour satellites travel across the dial as a three-dimensional retrograde hand marks the minutes; twin indicators show the 48-hour power reserve, and a counter on the back logs the movement’s running time toward service. URWERK announced the carbon C81 model in Geneva on September 15, 2020. Its reported CHF 145,000 price was a tax-exclusive launch figure, not a current quote.
How the UR-220 tells time
Three wandering-hour satellites
Instead of a conventional central hour hand, the UR-220 uses three rotating satellites to show the hours. As they travel across the display, the current hour is read against the minute scale. This arrangement makes the hour indication move through the dial rather than remain in a fixed position.
A retrograde minute hand
A large, three-dimensional retrograde hand encloses the active hour satellite as it crosses a scale marked from 0 to 60 minutes. At the end of the hour, it snaps back to the next satellite in less than 0.1 second, according to URWERK’s product page. The return is part of the display’s mechanics, not a second timekeeping function.
Movement and power reserve
The manually wound UR-7.20 calibre has 59 jewels, a Swiss lever escapement and a frequency of 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour. URWERK specifies a 48-hour power reserve. Two reserve indicators share the job of showing that remaining autonomy: each subdial represents 24 hours.

Case, dimensions and water resistance
The Falcon Project is the C81 carbon version, with a carbon case and titanium caseback. URWERK lists a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and dimensions of 43.8 × 52.9 × 14.8 mm. Monochrome’s launch specification gives the length as 53.6 mm instead of 52.9 mm, while agreeing on the other dimensions. If the exact length matters for fit or comparison, note that published discrepancy rather than treating one figure as settled.

URWERK lists 3 ATM water resistance, also described as pressure tested to 30 metres. That rating is a specification, not a promise that the watch is suitable for swimming or diving.
Rear running-time and service counter
The counter on the back is an oil-change service indicator that tracks accumulated running time, rather than simply counting calendar months whether or not the watch is operating. Launch descriptions say the owner starts it by removing a security pin and pressing the rear pusher. After 39 months of recorded running time, it indicates the stated service point; a watchmaker resets it during service. This is a feature of the UR-220, not a universal service interval for mechanical watches.

What stands out about the Falcon Project

The rear running-time counter adds an ownership-oriented feature unusual enough to merit attention, but it should be understood as this model’s service aid rather than general maintenance advice.
