Mai Ikuzawa and the TAG Heuer Team Ikuzawa Carrera Collaborations

Mai Ikuzawa leads Team Ikuzawa as its principal and creative director, extending her father Tetsu Ikuzawa’s racing legacy into design and car culture. Her partnership with TAG Heuer and Bamford Watch Department produced a Japan-exclusive Carrera in 2023 and a second, 150-piece Carrera Chronograph in 2026. The first watch was described by Time+Tide as an “instant hit,” but published sources do not establish sales totals or a verified sell-out date.

Who is Mai Ikuzawa?

Mai Ikuzawa is the principal of Team Ikuzawa and, in 2026 coverage, its creative director. Her father, Japanese racing driver Tetsu Ikuzawa, established the motorsport legacy she now carries forward. Her work draws on the Japanese automotive and fashion culture she encountered growing up, while taking Team Ikuzawa beyond the identity of a racing team and into design and car culture.

TAG Heuer describes Team Ikuzawa as a setting for creativity and innovation and refers to its “large, dedicated fanbase.” That audience description is the brand’s characterization, rather than an independently measured figure. Time+Tide called the first Carrera collaboration an “instant hit”; that phrase conveys a publication’s assessment, not documented sales results.

What was the first TAG Heuer x Team Ikuzawa watch?

The first collaboration among TAG Heuer, Team Ikuzawa and Bamford Watch Department arrived in 2023, during the Carrera’s anniversary year. TAG Heuer’s account emphasizes clean lines associated with Japanese design, a white palette and a red dot on the dial connected to Mai Ikuzawa’s design language. At launch, the watch was available exclusively through TAG Heuer boutiques in Japan and the brand’s Japanese e-commerce site.

The Japanese launch release identifies the Carrera reference as CBN201F.FB0356 and lists a 42 mm steel case, automatic Heuer 02 movement and 100 m water resistance. It gives a launch price of ¥968,000 including tax and lists a steel bracelet plus a Team Ikuzawa-printed strap. TAG Heuer’s account also mentions an additional white Velcro strap with Team Ikuzawa branding. These details apply to the listed 2023 reference and launch materials; they should not be assumed to describe every version or later listing.

What inspired the 2026 Carrera Chronograph x Team Ikuzawa?

The second collaboration, named Carrera Chronograph x Team Ikuzawa, takes its visual cue from a vintage Roadmaster stopwatch. Wallpaper* reports that Mai Ikuzawa and George Bamford came across the stopwatch while looking through Bamford’s collection. The watch translates that reference into a white Clous de Paris dial with black numerals and red accents. Its seconds display is omitted, leaving space for the Team Ikuzawa signature.

Mai described the restrained approach this way: “The simplicity and restraint of the design was just full on.” She also said, “You’re stripping away a lot of the noise, but what makes something really beautiful is the attention to detail,” and characterized the collaboration process as one in which “there was no compromise”. In discussing its intended appeal, she said, “We want to bring a little bit of sexiness back”.

The 2026 set includes a toolbox-style presentation, a travel pouch and Team Ikuzawa charms. Wallpaper* describes the watch as globally available, in contrast to the first edition’s Japan-exclusive launch.
