The Maison’s official pages explain how its jumping hour indications and retrograde minute hand work, but do not provide enough information to assess its movement specifications, price, or wearing experience. This is an explainer based on the Maison’s published description, not a hands-on test.
What is the Midnight Heure d’Ici & Heure d’Ailleurs?
Van Cleef & Arpels identifies VCARPEVI00 as a Midnight Heure d’Ici & Heure d’Ailleurs with a 38 mm case, 18K rose gold, enamel, and a dual-time-zone movement. The 38 mm measurement and broad material description are listed on the official product page; the Maison’s collection page describes the display and design in more detail.
The product page calls it a “refined and poetic interpretation of time in two different corners of the planet.” That is the Maison’s promotional description; the practical distinction is that the watch presents a reference time and a second-zone time on separate hour displays.
How does it show two time zones?
The upper window displays “Heure d’ici,” the reference time, and the lower window displays “Heure d’ailleurs,” the second time zone. Van Cleef & Arpels says the two hour discs are synchronized by sector gears with a retrograde minute hand. The hour indications jump forward together, rather than being shown by two conventional central hour hands. The Maison summarizes the family as watches that “combine two time zones.”

The published description establishes the display arrangement, but does not explain how the second zone is set or adjusted. It therefore does not establish whether setting is independent, how the mechanism behaves during adjustment, or how easy the displays are to read in everyday conditions.
What are the case and dial like?
Van Cleef & Arpels describes the case and hour markers as rose gold with polished and satin finishes. The dial is described as embossed enamel in brown tones that may appear warmer or cooler with changing light. The Maison also characterizes the surface as guilloché in appearance, radiating from a piqué motif that recalls its hallmark. These are the brand’s descriptions, not independent observations of a watch in hand.

When can it be seen in boutiques?
Van Cleef & Arpels announced that visitors could discover this Midnight watch in boutiques from October 12, 2026. That is an announced discovery date, not confirmation that the watch is available at every boutique or in every market. Contact a local Van Cleef & Arpels boutique to confirm whether it can be viewed or purchased in your region.
