That makes it unusually versatile visually—and gives it the hardware to show two separately set times—but the key trade-off is practical: you need to remove it from your wrist to turn it over. Vario lists the Silver-Black Enamel version at $428 USD; its 5 ATM rating and leather strap make it better suited to dress and everyday wear than aquatic use.
How does the Vario VERSA reversible watch work?
The VERSA places a dial and its own quartz movement on each side of a case that rotates within its frame. Turn the case to wear either face outward. The two sides can be set independently, so the second dial can show another time zone or simply offer a different look. Vario positions the design as a blend of Streamline Moderne styling and everyday function, with one face intended to suit a more sporty look and the other a cocktail-hour style; those are the maker’s design aims, not a performance assessment. Vario’s Silver-Black Enamel product listing specifies two one-jewel Ronda Slimtech 1062 Swiss quartz movements and describes them as repairable.
Independent reviewer Vincent Deschamps described the dual-time use this way: “Having two movements operating independently allows you either track two different time zones or simply swap faces to suit your needs.” He also found the watch light and easy to set in his hands-on review for Fratello, published March 9, 2023. These are his observations, not results from our own testing.
Can the Vario VERSA track two time zones?
Yes. Because each side has a separate movement, you can set the two dials to different times. This is a straightforward way to keep a second time visible when you turn the case, but it is not the same as reading two time zones at once: only one face is exposed while the watch is on your wrist. If you want a second time displayed simultaneously on a single dial, a GMT-style display may suit you better.

Do you have to take the Vario VERSA off to flip it?
Yes. Deschamps reported that the case has to be removed from the wrist before switching faces. He also noted a consequence of the design: “First, you have to remove the watch from the wrist to switch faces. Second, the hidden face hugs your skin, and it will get smudged.” That makes the VERSA more of a choice between two looks than a watch for frequent, on-the-go face changes.
Deschamps preferred replacing the supplied deployant-clasp strap because he felt the clasp added bulk. That is a personal fit and comfort preference, not evidence of a defect. Vario lists the strap as 20 mm wide, tapering to 16 mm.

What size is the Vario VERSA?
For the Silver-Black Enamel colorway, Vario’s product page lists a 39 mm case length, 26 mm width, 12 mm thickness and 20 mm lugs. It pairs a 316L stainless-steel case with flat sapphire crystals that have inner anti-reflective coating, an enamel sector dial and a 20-to-16 mm tapered Italian vegetable-tanned leather strap. Vario’s broader VERSA story page gives a 40 mm case length; the specific product listing gives 39 mm for this colorway, so check the exact version if that 1 mm difference matters to your fit decision.
Check the strap before ordering
Vario cautions that the supplied strap may be too short for wrists measuring 7.5 inches or more and offers a longer option for some larger wrists. If you are near or above that measurement, confirm availability and fit with the seller before purchase. Do not assume an arbitrary replacement strap will work: its length, attachment geometry and clearance around the reversible case all matter.

Is the Vario VERSA water resistant?
Vario specifies 5 ATM water resistance. Treat that rating conservatively: the VERSA is presented with a leather strap and dress-oriented styling, and the available product information does not establish suitability for swimming or other water activities. Keep water exposure modest and follow Vario’s care guidance rather than treating the rating as a promise for every aquatic use.

Vario listed the Silver-Black Enamel version at $428 USD on its product page when accessed October 7, 2026. Price and stock can change, so check the current listing before buying. Vario states a six-year battery life for the Ronda movements; this is the manufacturer’s estimate, not an independently measured result. The listing also specifies a two-year international warranty. Check the warranty terms and applicable coverage for your location before ordering. Vario’s story page calls the VERSA a “Winner of IF Design Awards 2025”; that award designation is Vario’s claim and has not been independently verified here.

The VERSA makes the most sense if you value its reversible styling, want two separately set quartz displays, and are comfortable taking the watch off to change the visible face. Its two dials add a genuine dual-time option, but do not replace a GMT watch when simultaneous readability is the priority. At the listed $428 price, the decision is primarily about whether the two-face case and design are worth choosing over a simpler single-face or fixed dual-time watch. Consider the 12 mm thickness, leather strap fit and modest water-use expectations alongside the unusual design.
