The Venezianico Bucintoro 1969 is a 69-piece limited-edition chronograph built around a restored, hand-wound vintage Lemania 1873 movement. Its launch-sequence presentation and Apollo 11-era story evoke the Space Race; the available product information presents it as a commemorative watch, not as a timepiece used in the Apollo program.
What is the Venezianico Bucintoro 1969?
It is a modern chronograph that Venezianico says was created to commemorate the 1969 Moon landing. The brand’s product page gives the Apollo 11 landing time as July 20, 1969, 20:17:40 UTC. That date and time are part of the maker’s product-page account; the page is not an independent historical source. Venezianico’s Bucintoro 1969 product page supplies the watch’s story and specifications.

The Space Race is the historical frame for the design, but the distinction matters: the product information does not establish that this particular watch participated in Apollo or was issued to NASA personnel. Venezianico says the Lemania 1873 was used by NASA personnel and that its predecessor, caliber 321, was the first movement to reach the lunar surface. Those are the manufacturer’s claims, not independently corroborated provenance for the Bucintoro 1969.
What movement is in the Bucintoro 1969?
Venezianico identifies the movement as a Swiss-made Lemania 1873: a vintage, new-old-stock (NOS) hand-wound caliber that the company says it restored before installation. The brand says it found 69 movements in Switzerland and carried out a six-month restoration process. Its description calls the movements the “beating heart” of the edition; that is the maker’s characterization, not an independent assessment of restoration quality.

- Case Material: 316L Stainless Steel
- Case Dimensions: 42mm, Lug to Lug 49mm
- Case Thickness: 11.70mm (Without Glass)
- Crystal: 1.90mm, Double Domed Sapphire
- Movement: Automatic Seiko NE88A
On its US product page, Venezianico lists a frequency of 21,600 alternations per hour and an approximate 40-hour power reserve. These figures, like the movement’s provenance and restoration history, are manufacturer-provided; no independent inspection or performance measurement is established here.
How does the launch-sequence chronograph work?
The dial presentation references a launch countdown at T-60, T-10 and T-5. According to Venezianico, once the countdown reaches zero, the chronograph and tachymetric scale can be used to measure speed. The countdown is a themed presentation; it should not be confused with evidence that the watch was a spacecraft instrument.

The tachymeter is a scale used with elapsed chronograph time to calculate speed over a known distance. The product page lists the scale but does not provide an independent evaluation of chronograph performance.

What to consider before buying
- Wearing dimensions: At 42 mm across and 49 mm lug-to-lug, the listed measurements give a more complete sense of case footprint than diameter alone. Thickness is stated as 11.5 mm without the 1.6 mm crystal, so it is not an all-in height measurement.
- Hand-winding: The Lemania 1873 is hand-wound, so routine ownership involves winding the watch rather than relying on an automatic rotor.
- Evidence behind the story: The movement’s NOS origin, restoration and NASA-related history are described by Venezianico. The product information does not include an independent restoration inspection or movement verification.
- Availability: The checked US page showed the edition as sold out. Confirm current stock, price, warranty terms and any seller’s exact reference and condition before making a purchase.
