The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph 8Tech, reference 81060-41-3222-1CX, is distinguished by a layered carbon-and-titanium composite case with a distinctive wavy pattern. It pairs that material with a 44 mm automatic chronograph, 100 m water resistance and a grey gradient dial. Here is what the construction means, how the watch is specified, and how to interpret the market-specific prices currently displayed by the cited sellers.
What is the Laureato Absolute Chronograph 8Tech?
Girard-Perregaux calls the model “Laureato Absolute 8Tech,” while launch coverage uses the fuller “Laureato Absolute Chronograph 8Tech.” Both names refer to reference 81060-41-3222-1CX. The watch was announced for Geneva Watch Days 2023. At launch, Hodinkee reported a US price of $27,800 and expected availability from October 2023 through Girard-Perregaux retailers; the publication said it was not a limited edition. That is launch-era information, not a current price or inventory guarantee. Hodinkee’s launch coverage
What is the 8Tech case made of?
Girard-Perregaux describes the case as a carbon/titanium composite. The brand says its process combines unidirectional, non-braided, pre-impregnated carbon fibres with lightweight titanium powder in extremely thin layers. Those layers are stacked in differing orientations, cut into octagons, consolidated using heat and pressure, then milled into case components and hand-refined. The finished surface has a wavy appearance reminiscent of Damascus steel. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions of its material and process, rather than findings from independent materials testing. Girard-Perregaux’s product specifications
The product page says the layers measure 0.05 mm thick and describes the resulting material as five times lighter than steel with comparable strength and rigidity. Both figures are manufacturer claims; the page does not provide an independent test protocol for the weight, strength or rigidity comparison. Girard-Perregaux’s material description

How does it compare with other Laureato Absolute chronographs?
The clearest distinguishing point established by the available descriptions is the 8Tech case: its carbon-and-titanium construction and irregular, layered pattern give this reference a different material treatment from a conventional metal case. The stated dimensions, 100 m water resistance, chronograph functions and automatic movement provide useful points for evaluating fit and use, but the available sources do not give a controlled side-by-side comparison with other Laureato Absolute chronographs. They therefore do not establish differences in measured performance, wear comfort or durability.

What prices are listed, and where can you check availability?
Prices shown by different sources are snapshots for different markets and contexts, not a like-for-like comparison. The manufacturer’s Swiss English page displays CHF 26,200, while its French page displays €28,900. Wempe lists the exact reference at €28,600 including VAT. Hodinkee’s $27,800 figure is the reported US launch price from 2023. Check the applicable local price and tax treatment with the seller before making a decision.
Girard-Perregaux’s product page provides contact and reservation prompts. Wempe’s listing identifies the reference and describes Wempe as an official concessionaire. Neither page establishes current stock in every location, so ask the brand or an authorized local retailer to confirm availability.
