Both listings specify a 42 mm stainless-steel case, Sellita SW200 Automatic Date movement, date display and 10 ATM/100 m water resistance. The choice is chiefly about strap, clasp, listed weight and local price—not a different movement or case size.
What is the Victorinox Swiss Army Automatic?
It is a Swiss-made automatic watch with a date display. Victorinox’s listings for references 242044 and 242045 describe a brushed stainless-steel case, polished fixed bezel, luminous hands, screw-in caseback and exhibition caseback. The case measures 42 mm in diameter and 11 mm high, with a 21 mm lug width on both references. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Victorinox 242045 UK listing; Victorinox 242044 German listing.
The 42 mm diameter gives a useful starting point when considering fit, but case diameter alone does not establish how the watch will wear on a particular wrist. Try it on if possible, especially if you are unsure about the size or bracelet feel.
What movement is in the Victorinox Swiss Army Automatic?
Both product listings name the Sellita SW200 Automatic Date movement. Victorinox describes its movement as setting “an exacting standard for accuracy,” but that is the manufacturer’s promotional wording, not a published accuracy measurement. The available product information does not establish measured timekeeping performance or long-term reliability.
#1 Best Overall
- Swiss Army Automatic Swiss engineered watch with exhibition caseback. Date and tool-free quick release strap system.
- PRECISION: Polished stainless steel bezel with minute indicator for precision timing.
- PRODUCT DETAILS: Swiss Army Automatic, dial window material sapphire crystal, case material stainless steel, case diameter 42 mm, case thickness 11.05 mm, lug width 21 mm, strap material black leather/silver mesh, dial color black/blue matte dial, bezel material stainless steel, water resistant depth 100 meters, movement Sellita SW200-1 automatic with date, country of origin Switzerland, SKU 242044, SKU 242045.
The exhibition caseback is listed on both configurations, so the movement is visible through the back. The date display is a practical everyday complication; the supplied specifications do not state additional functions such as a chronograph.
What is the difference between Victorinox 242044 and 242045?
The clearest distinction is the strap and clasp. Listed weights are product-page figures and should not be treated as the result of a controlled comparison.

Choose 242044 if you prefer the listed leather-and-buckle configuration; choose 242045 if you want the mesh bracelet and sliding buckle. The listed 49 g difference may be relevant when comparing specifications, but it does not by itself tell you how either version will feel on your wrist.
What does the 100 m water-resistance rating tell you?
Victorinox lists both Swiss Army Automatic references at 10 ATM/100 m/330 ft. This is the manufacturer’s stated rating; it is not an independent test result or a guarantee of performance under every real-world condition. The product information cited here does not specify permitted activities or care guidance, so check the watch documentation and applicable warranty terms before relying on it for a particular use.

Is the Victorinox Swiss Army Automatic worth it?
It may suit a buyer looking for a Swiss-made, 42 mm automatic with a date, exhibition caseback and a choice between leather and mesh. The supplied product information supports those specifications, but does not establish hands-on comfort, measured accuracy, long-term reliability or comparative performance. Assess the fit and preferred strap in person when possible, and compare the price in your own market before deciding.

Victorinox’s I.N.O.X. Automatic reference 242017.1 is a separate watch line, not another Swiss Army Automatic variant. Its listing specifies a 41 mm case, 12 mm height, 21 mm lug width, rubber strap, date, Sellita automatic movement and 20 ATM/200 m/660 ft water resistance, plus a five-year warranty. That higher stated rating may matter to buyers prioritizing water resistance, while case size and strap preference remain different considerations. Victorinox I.N.O.X. Automatic listing.
