The launch comprises four standard versions and an Oracle Red Bull Racing special edition. The references share a Calibre 16 movement and core case dimensions; the key differences are case finish, dial accents and team-specific details.
What changed in the 2025 Formula 1 Chronograph?
TAG Heuer introduced the redesigned collection in January 2025, framing the overhaul around its return as Formula 1’s official timekeeper. Compared with the line’s colorful quartz beginnings, these watches are larger, made from titanium and powered by an automatic chronograph movement. Monochrome’s launch coverage describes a shaped case, fixed tachymeter bezel and chronograph pushers designed as part of the new look. Monochrome’s launch review provides the detailed product description.

TAG Heuer Managing Director for the Middle East, India, Africa, and Türkiye, Lamia Rault, said the watches were designed to reflect “the dynamism and energy of Formula 1,” according to The Peninsula’s February 9, 2025 report. The report also attributes the case and bezel’s aerodynamic lines and micro-perforations to Formula 1 inspiration; that is the brand’s design explanation, not evidence of a functional aerodynamic effect.
Which five watches are in the launch lineup?
The four standard watches pair black dials with red or light-blue details, in bare or black DLC-coated grade-2 titanium. The Oracle Red Bull Racing edition adds team colors and distinct dial and caseback details. These are the launch identities described by Monochrome; confirm current availability and local pricing with TAG Heuer or a local retailer.

| Reference | Case finish | Dial and distinguishing details |
|---|---|---|
| CBZ2082.FT8096 | Bare grade-2 titanium | Black dial with red accents; the bare-titanium core model. |

For the simplest distinction, choose by visual treatment: bare titanium with red, dark DLC with red, dark DLC with light blue, or the team-branded Oracle Red Bull Racing version. The special edition is not merely an accent-color variant: its patterned dial, carbon bezel insert and branding set it apart.
What are the case and movement specifications?
Monochrome reports the same principal dimensions across the collection: 44 mm in diameter, 14.1 mm thick and 47.3 mm from lug to lug. Its review identifies the cases as grade-2 titanium and describes a sapphire crystal, solid caseback with a chequered-flag motif, shaped pushers and a notched crown with a colored ring. The standard models have aluminum bezel inserts; the Oracle Red Bull Racing edition is described with a carbon insert. These are source-reported specifications, not independent test results.

- Stainless steel case with a stainless steel bracelet with black ceramic center links
- Stainless steel bezel with a black ceramic top ring showing tachymeter markings. Anthracite sunray dial with luminous silver-tone hands and index hour markers.
- Swiss-automatic Movement
- Case Diameter: 44mm
- Water resistant 200m (660ft): in general, suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not diving
Calibre 16 and chronograph layout
The automatic Calibre 16 is reported as based on the Sellita SW510. Monochrome lists a 28,800-vibrations-per-hour (4 Hz) rate, a 42-hour power reserve and 25 jewels. The tricompax display places a 30-minute chronograph counter at 12 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6, and running seconds at 9; chronograph seconds use the central hand. The dial also has hours and minutes, a date window, applied luminous markers, semi-openworked luminous hour and minute hands, and colored details.
Water resistance and what specifications cannot tell you
Monochrome states 200 m water resistance. No independent water-resistance test, accuracy measurement or durability assessment is established here. The 44 mm diameter and 47.3 mm lug-to-lug give useful dimensions for comparison, but they cannot determine how the shaped case will sit on an individual wrist or whether it will feel comfortable.

How does the 2025 watch fit the Formula 1 line’s history?
TAG Heuer’s official Formula 1 collection history dates the line’s debut to 1986, when it began with colorful quartz watches, and says the collection’s first chronograph arrived in 1989. The brand says the line sold more than 3,000,000 watches, but does not attach a year to that cumulative figure. Its history also records that the collection was discontinued in 2000 and returned in 2004, followed by later changes in materials, movements and design.
The 2025 chronographs therefore mark a substantial shift in materials and mechanics from the original concept, while continuing the Formula 1 identity. Their connection to the racing world is expressed through the tachymeter bezel, chronograph display, design cues and, in one version, Oracle Red Bull Racing branding.

Price and availability: what can be stated confidently?
The launch coverage says the watches were available through TAG Heuer boutiques and retailers, but its reported prices are inconsistent. Monochrome’s main text lists CHF 4,300 for bare titanium, CHF 4,600 for black DLC models and CHF 5,300 for the Oracle Red Bull Racing edition; its technical specification block instead lists CHF 4,600 and CHF 4,800 for standard titanium and DLC versions. Wallpaper*’s January 2025 report gives UK launch prices of £4,100, £4,300 and £4,750, respectively. These are conflicting or market-specific historical launch reports, not a dependable current price list. Check TAG Heuer or a local authorized retailer for current pricing and availability in your market.
Which version should you choose?
- CBZ2082.FT8096: the straightforward choice if you want the bare-titanium case and red accents.
- CBZ2085.FT8093: choose this if you prefer a dark DLC case while keeping the red-accented dial treatment.
- CBZ2084.FT8097: the dark-case option with light-blue accents rather than red.
- CBZ2080.FT8091: the distinct choice for Oracle Red Bull Racing colors, a patterned blue dial, carbon bezel insert and team branding.
All four choices share the reported 44 mm case diameter and Calibre 16 specification, so the available evidence points to appearance and special-edition details—not a different movement—as the main basis for deciding among them. Try the case on if possible: dimensions alone cannot settle fit.
