A case inspired by Hongshan carvings
Atelier Wen says the case’s sinuous form takes inspiration from Hongshan jade-dragon carvings known as 猪龙 (zhū lóng). In its launch article, the brand dates the Hongshan culture period to 4700–2900 BC. This is the brand’s account of its design reference, rather than an independently verified archaeological interpretation.

Atelier Wen’s launch journal, written by Ignatius Tan and dated July 29, 2025, says the project began in 2022 and prototypes were made in mid-2024. It describes the Jiao as the brand’s first new series in three years. The article also notes that early prototypes had thicker lugs and an 18 mm lug width; the final watch has a 20 mm lug width.
A hand-worked silver and enamel dial
Atelier Wen describes the dial as a hand-hammered 925 silver base beneath grand feu fumé enamel, made by Kong Lingjun’s workshop. The page describes two marker treatments: Chinese calligraphy for the odd hours on one variant and Western-Arabic numerals for the even hours on the other. Alternating lab-grown baguette-cut diamonds add another detail to the dial layout.

Atelier Wen describes the EPM03 as heavily customized. Its launch account says the three-quarter bridge is micro-etched with a 446-character excerpt or arrangement of the ancient Chinese poem 天问 (Tiān Wèn, “Questions to Heaven”). The 38 mm diameter gives a useful first measure of the case, while the 46 mm lug-to-lug length describes its span across the wrist. At 11.3 mm thick, the case may sit more prominently beneath a close-fitting cuff than a thinner dress watch. Actual fit and cuff clearance depend on wrist shape, cuff construction and how the watch is worn; no independent wear test is established here.
