How does the Vulcain Cricket alarm work?
The hand-wound V-10 has two barrels: one powers timekeeping and the other powers the alarm. To set the alarm, use the pusher at 2 o’clock and the crown at 3 o’clock. A central alarm hand points to a peripheral scale marked in 10-minute intervals.
Monochrome lists the V-10 with 25 jewels, 165 components, a 42-hour power reserve, Vulcain’s Exactomatic system, and a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour. For the alarm, a hammer strikes a pin; the caseback serves as a resonance chamber for the resulting buzz. These are reported specifications, not independent performance-test results.
Case, dimensions, and water resistance
Monochrome reported a 12.70 mm case height for both sizes. The stainless-steel case has polished surfaces with satin-finished accents, a box-shaped sapphire crystal, and a screwed caseback. Reported water resistance is 50 m. That specification describes the watch’s stated rating; it is not a recommendation to operate the alarm underwater.
