What “Grand Prix” means
The name refers to a historical award, not a racing function. Vulcain’s history says its watch manufacture received the Grand Prix at the 1929 Barcelona World Fair. The company’s timeline also traces the Manufacture Ditisheim’s founding in La Chaux-de-Fonds to 1858 and records the 1947 presentation of its Cricket alarm wristwatch. These are the brand’s own historical claims; they can be read in Vulcain’s history. Time+Tide likewise describes the contemporary Grand Prix name as a reference to the award, rather than a racing-watch feature: Time+Tide’s 2024 coverage.

Dial and strap versions
Vulcain’s listing describes Champagne, silver and black dial options with brown or black leather straps. Separate Grand Prix Small Second pages show additional dial colors. The small-second version places the seconds display at six o’clock; the model remains time-only, with hours, minutes and seconds rather than a chronograph function. Confirm the exact dial, seconds layout and strap on the listing for the reference you are considering, since options and prices may differ.
Price and availability
Vulcain’s official homepage displayed the Grand Prix Champagne at CHF 1,190 when accessed on October 8, 2026. This is a manufacturer-displayed price for that listing, not a guaranteed price in other markets or a promise that the offer remains current. Check Vulcain’s live product page for regional availability and pricing; the available information does not establish an equivalent price in another currency or confirm a marketplace listing.
