FinWatchStraps is still worth considering if you want a configurable, made-to-order strap—but the 2021 Fratello review is not a current quality test, and recent customer complaints make it sensible to verify the seller’s current terms, timing, and support before paying. The review records one author’s experience with a particular set of straps and a watch roll; it does not establish how today’s catalog performs.
What the 2021 FinWatchStraps review actually found
Balazs Ferenczi’s Fratello article, published June 30, 2021, revisited the brand about two years after an earlier article. The earlier selection included suede, Nordic reindeer, and Swiss ammo straps; the later group featured alligator, ostrich leg, lizard, and reindeer. The article also mentions watch rolls, belts, and other accessories. Those are historical review details, not confirmation of the present catalog. Read the 2021 Fratello review.
The straps and wear observations
Ferenczi described a black alligator strap in 20 mm width with side stitching. It was straight rather than tapered and 2.2 mm thick; he found it flexible and comfortable to wear immediately. He also reviewed ostrich-leg and lizard straps, as well as an 18 mm reindeer bund strap. These are his observations of those specific pieces, not controlled comparisons or specifications for current products.
He reported that his reindeer strap developed cracks and a vintage patina over time, and said he would pair it with a vintage watch. That is one wearer’s experience, not a universal prediction about reindeer leather.

The watch roll and historical prices
The article described a four-slot Italian calf-leather watch roll with pockets measuring 8 × 10 cm, which Ferenczi said could fit larger watches such as a Panerai. Historical prices in the article were €54 for the watch roll and €270 for the reindeer bund strap — Fratello Watches, 2021. Neither figure is a current quote. The article also mentioned code FR15; its 2021 publication does not establish that the code still works.
What FinWatchStraps offers and publishes now
FinWatchStraps’ legal notice describes made-to-order straps using materials including Harris Tweed, Finnish reindeer leather, Italian calf leather, and exotic skins. Its FAQ describes configurable material, size, taper, stitching, lining, and buckle options. Customization can help match a strap to a particular watch and preference, but it also makes accurate measurements and careful review of the order details especially important. How to choose the right strap size
Do not assume the 20 mm strap in the old review will fit your watch. Measure your own watch and confirm the dimensions and configuration with the seller before ordering.
- Measure lug width. Check the inside distance between the lugs where the strap attaches. Order the matching width; a review’s 20 mm specification applies only to the reviewed alligator strap.
- Check lug-to-lug spacing and case thickness. FinWatchStraps asks customers to verify these dimensions. Consider how the strap will sit against the case and how much length you need around your wrist.
- Choose length and taper. Confirm the strap length suits your wrist and buckle position. Decide whether you want a straight strap or one that narrows toward the buckle.
- Confirm attachment and buckle details. Verify that the strap’s attachment and buckle options suit your watch, and check whether you need a particular buckle or intend to reuse your existing one.
- Review the final configuration. Check material, stitching, lining, dimensions, taper, and buckle selection against the order confirmation before purchase.
What to check before placing a custom order
- Return eligibility: The seller’s published terms say custom straps cannot be returned or exchanged. The terms distinguish standard, non-custom products and describe a 14-day return period for those items. These are the seller’s stated terms, not independent legal advice; check the live policy and the consumer rights that apply where you live before ordering.
- Price and timing: Confirm the current price and delivery estimate for the exact configuration directly with the seller. The 2021 article’s prices do not establish current pricing or delivery performance.
- Support: Recent Trustpilot posts and an August 19, 2026 Reddit discussion include individual reports of unanswered messages, delivery delays, mismatched products, and finishing concerns. These customer accounts are anecdotal and not independently verified; they do not establish how common such problems are. - Order record: Keep a copy of the selected measurements, material, options, price, estimated timing, and the seller’s applicable terms so you can compare the delivered item with what you ordered.
Is FinWatchStraps still worth considering?
It may suit a buyer who values configurable materials and construction and is comfortable with made-to-order terms. The evidence does not support a definitive current quality verdict: the Fratello article documents an individual experience in 2021, while recent online complaints are customer reports rather than independently verified findings. Before ordering, weigh the specific strap you want against the seller’s current price, stated delivery estimate, custom-item return policy, and responsiveness to any pre-sale questions.
