TV characters wear everything from a practical calculator watch to a high-end dress watch. The best-known examples include Walter White’s changing watches in Breaking Bad, Don Draper’s reported Reverso and Explorer in Mad Men, and Tony Soprano’s identified Rolex Day-Date. These are specialist-publication and watch-database identifications, not confirmed wardrobe records; confidence varies by watch.
Breaking Bad: Walter White’s Casio and TAG Heuer
Early seasons: Casio CA-53W
Walter White’s early-season watch is identified as the Casio CA-53W, a digital calculator watch. Its utilitarian look suits a character whose early wardrobe is notably more practical than luxurious. WatchTime India and WatchReel both associate the model with Walter; WatchReel gives the variant as CA-53W-1. WatchReel’s identification is a model-level match, though not official production confirmation.
Later seasons: TAG Heuer Monaco
Walter’s watch changes later in the series: he is associated with a TAG Heuer Monaco reportedly given to him by Jesse in season five. WatchTime India specifies the Monaco Calibre 12, reference CAW2111.FC6183. That is a more exact identification than the broad Monaco name, but it remains a specialist-publication identification rather than a studio-confirmed prop record. WatchTime India’s TV-watch guide describes the model and reference.
The difference between the two watches is substantial: the CA-53W is an everyday digital calculator watch, while the Monaco is a luxury chronograph. If you are trying to find the early Walter White look, search for the CA-53W by model name; a current listing should not be assumed to be the exact screen-worn unit.

Mad Men: Don Draper’s Reverso and Rolex Explorer
Don Draper is associated with more than one watch, so there is no single model that covers his full run on Mad Men. IMWDb features a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classique, while WatchTime India reports a Reverso Classic in season two and a Rolex Explorer in season four. The reported models pair a refined, rectangular dress-watch look with the more utilitarian Explorer style.
These are publication and database identifications, not official costume-department confirmation. The Reverso and Explorer should be treated as separate season-associated watches rather than competing answers to what Don wears.

The Sopranos: Tony Soprano’s Rolex Day-Date
IMWDb identifies Tony Soprano’s watch as a Rolex Day-Date reference 18238. The database entry provides a specific model and reference, but independent official wardrobe confirmation was not located. Treat it as a database identification, not a verified production credit. IMWDb’s television watch listings distinguish records by identification confidence.
Succession: Tom Wambsgans’s Audemars Piguet
IMWDb features Tom Wambsgans with an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph. This is a database identification; the listing does not establish official confirmation from the show’s wardrobe team. The model puts Tom’s on-screen watch among the more conspicuous luxury sports-watch examples in this group.

Stranger Things: Mike Wheeler’s Casio calculator watch
WatchReel identifies Mike Wheeler’s watch in Stranger Things as a Casio CA-53W-1. That is a plausible model-level match from visual identification, not a confirmed production record. The same CA-53W family is linked to Walter White’s early Breaking Bad look, making it a recurring screen example of the practical calculator watch.
House: Gregory House’s Hamilton Khaki King
WatchTime India identifies Gregory House’s watch as a Hamilton Khaki King in the first four seasons and again in season eight. The identification is tied to those stated seasons; it should not be generalized to every episode of House. The Khaki King’s field-watch styling is a less formal choice than the dress watches worn by some other characters in this guide.

Grey’s Anatomy: Owen Hunt’s Panerai
WatchTime India identifies Owen Hunt’s watch as a Panerai Luminor. The source names the model family but does not provide an exact reference in the material available here, so this is a family-level identification rather than a precise model match.
Scandal: Olivia Pope’s Movado
WatchTime India identifies Olivia Pope’s watch as a Movado 1881, reference 0607098. The guide notes that Kerry Washington was a Movado ambassador at the time. That context may help explain the choice, but it does not establish that the watch was a paid placement or prove why the production selected it.

House of Cards: Claire Underwood’s Cartier Tank
WatchTime India reports a Cartier Tank for Claire Underwood in seasons one and two, then a Cartier Tank Louis in season three. The season distinction matters: the source identifies a change in the reported watch rather than one model worn throughout the series. No exact reference is given here.
The Bear: Marcus Brooks’s Tissot
IMWDb features Marcus Brooks with a Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80. This is a database identification, not an official wardrobe confirmation. The model name is specific, but the listing should not be taken as proof of an exact screen-worn reference or current availability.
How certain are TV watch identifications?
A clear view of a dial, case, bracelet, or distinctive shape can point to a model, but visual resemblance alone is not the same as confirmation from a production. IMWDb separates exact, probable, and unidentified records, while WatchReel also describes visually plausible but unconfirmed matches. The examples above therefore vary in precision: some name a reference, others identify only a family, and none has official studio or watchmaker confirmation established here.
- Exact or model-level: A source names a model or reference, such as the Casio CA-53W or Rolex Day-Date 18238. This still describes the identification’s specificity, not official confirmation.
- Family-level: A source names a line but not a precise reference, as with Owen Hunt’s Panerai Luminor.
- Probable or unresolved: The visible watch may resemble a named model, but the source does not establish a definitive match. Avoid treating a plausible visual match as fact.
Availability is a separate question from identification. The cited material does not establish current stock, current prices, or whether a particular reference remains in production. A named watch can be useful as a search term, but it does not guarantee that an item for sale is the actual prop or an exact match to the version seen on screen.
