The Weiss 42mm Limited American Issue Field Watch pairs a 42mm case and 100m water resistance with a hand-wound Calibre 1003 movement that the 2019 review described as manufactured, assembled, and finished in Los Angeles. The same review reported a 200-piece run and historical prices of $2,250 to $8,950, depending on configuration; those figures are not verified current prices.
What the Limited American Issue is
Reviewed by Erik Slaven for Monochrome Watches on July 2, 2019, the Weiss Limited American Issue is a mechanical field watch distinguished by Calibre 1003 and a reported limited production of 200 pieces. The movement is hand-wound, not automatic, and the watch displays central hours and minutes with small seconds at 9 o’clock. Monochrome’s review is the source for the exact model’s specifications and historical prices.
Case, dial, and wearing details
The reviewed watch has a 42mm-diameter, 12.7mm-high 316L stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and a flat sapphire caseback. Its stated water resistance is 100m. The review also described an 18k-gold case option available on request.
Dial colors named in the review are black, white, latte, blue, and green. The display is deliberately straightforward: central hour and minute hands, plus a small-seconds subdial at 9 o’clock.

The reviewed configuration came on a 20mm brown Horween leather strap with tan stitching and a stainless-steel buckle. Canvas straps were also offered. Strap material and dial color are configuration choices, rather than changes to the movement or core case dimensions.
Calibre 1003: American production and its Unitas foundation
Calibre 1003 is a hand-wound movement with 17 jewels, a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3Hz), and a specified 46-hour power reserve. The review says it is based on the ETA/Unitas 6497 rather than being a ground-up design. It also reports that Cameron Weiss made over 95% of the movement’s parts, including the escapement, and that the movement was manufactured, assembled, and finished in Los Angeles. Those are claims about the movement described in the review; they should not be read as a broader legal determination about the origin labeling of every watch component.

Weiss’s current American Issue collection page describes Caliber 1003 as an American-made movement manufactured and assembled in the company’s Los Angeles studio, and says watches are handcrafted individually by one watchmaker in the USA. The current range description provides context, but it does not make newer watches the same edition as the 2019-reviewed limited model.
