What movement does it use?
The Model 01 uses the Sellita SW210-1 Elaboré, a Swiss-made manual-winding calibre. It is not an automatic movement: the wearer winds it by hand. MONCEAU specifies a 42-hour power reserve, so a fully wound watch is rated to run for that period under the maker’s stated specification. The available product information does not provide further detail on adjustment, accuracy tolerances or service intervals.
How does the bracelet and dial vary?
MONCEAU lists four dial colours: Atacama Grey, Riyadh Red, Icelandic Black and Antarctic White. The indices use Super-LumiNova BGW9. The bracelet has removable end links, which the maker says allow the watch to be worn on a conventional strap; it also lists Saffiano leather strap options. Is MONCEAU a historic Swiss watch brand?
MONCEAU presents the Model 01 as the revival of an earlier Swiss watch name. According to the company’s Our Story page, original MONCEAU watches were made from the 1950s to the 1970s. The brand says a Fribourg watch and jewellery manufacturer acquired the name by the end of the 1970s, continued production briefly—including quartz models—and then the name faded.
The company says collector, watch-industry commentator and designer Simon Ryan encountered a vintage MONCEAU watch and began the revival effort in 2023. It describes the Model 01’s launch as the name’s return. That chronology is the company’s account, not a detailed corporate history independently established by archival records in the available coverage. MONOCHROME Watches, introducing the watch on May 29, 2025, described the history as “a bit murky” and noted that details are scarce.
