Tudor has not publicly stated a reason in the sources available here. In 2026, the watch returned as the second-generation Northflag—one word—with a GMT function and a different movement. The original remains notable as the first Tudor watch to use the company’s first Manufacture Calibre.
Why the Tudor North Flag mattered
Introduced in 2015, the North Flag marked a movement milestone for Tudor. The company says it announced its first Manufacture Calibre that year, and the North Flag was the first watch to carry it, according to Hodinkee. Tudor’s watchmaking history documents the milestone, while its 2015 North Flag brochure records the original watch’s MT5621 movement.

The design set it apart from Tudor’s better-known lines: an angular, exploration-oriented case and integrated bracelet, a black dial with yellow accents, and a power-reserve indicator. Its visual lineage reaches back to the 1973 Ranger II. That combination of unusual design and a new in-house movement made the North Flag a distinctive part of Tudor’s history, even though it did not become one of the brand’s enduring best-known families.
When was the Tudor North Flag discontinued?
Hodinkee reports that Tudor discontinued the original North Flag, reference 91210N, in 2021, after six years without updates or additional variants. This is reported product history, not a discontinuation announcement from Tudor. The sources cited here do not establish whether the watch remained available through retailers or in every market after that date.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Why was it discontinued?
The reason has not been officially established in the sources available here. Hodinkee observed that the North Flag did not catch on like the Pelagos or Black Bay, and noted that the MT5621’s underlying Manufacture Calibre technology spread to other Tudor watches. Those points offer context, but they do not reveal Tudor’s internal decision-making or prove that demand caused the discontinuation. No verified sales, production, or market-share figures establish a specific explanation.
Is the Tudor Northflag the same watch as the North Flag?
They are successive generations of the same named family, but they are not mechanically identical watches. Tudor calls the current model the second generation and spells its name Northflag, as one word. It retains a connection to the original’s exploration-themed design story, but Tudor describes the new design as distinct. The new generation’s GMT function and movement also distinguish it from the original.

What changed with the 2026 Northflag?
The current watch replaces the original’s MT5621 and power-reserve display with the MT5652-U and a GMT function. Tudor lists a 40 mm 316L steel case, black dial, integrated two-link steel bracelet with T-fit adjustment, silicon balance spring, and a 65-hour power reserve. The movement is COSC- and METAS-certified; Tudor describes the watch as Master Chronometer certified. See Tudor’s Northflag product-family page for current specifications. Its listed price was $5,525 when that page was accessed in 2026; prices and availability can change.
The return does not establish that the new watch is a direct replacement for the original in every market, or that it caused the 91210N’s discontinuation. The evidence supports a family connection and a new generation, not a claim that the two models are interchangeable.
