The launch date depends on which source you follow. Cartier says the Roadster was originally launched in 2002; Watchfinder’s listing for an older Roadster says it launched in 2001. Neither source explains the discrepancy, so the careful summary is that Cartier dates the launch to 2002, while some specialist material gives 2001.

Cartier now presents Roadster models in its collection, including steel and precious-metal combinations. That is a current collection listing, not a promise that every model is available in every market or will remain available.
What does a current Roadster offer?
Specifications vary by reference and size, so one current model should not be treated as representative of the whole collection or of older watches. Cartier’s large steel Roadster reference WSRD0014 is one example:

These are the specifications Cartier gives for this particular large steel model on its WSRD0014 product page. Cartier says large models use the 1847MC movement and medium models use the 1899MC; those details should not be generalized to historical references.
Cartier’s collection and Brazil pages show current Roadster strap options that include leather and rubber. Their descriptions do not establish that those straps fit older references. Confirm compatibility for the exact watch before ordering an accessory.

What should you know about older and pre-owned Roadsters?
Older Roadsters appear in the pre-owned market. Watchfinder lists the W62025V3 with a silver Roman-numeral dial, bracelet, and date under a magnified lens at 3 o’clock. WatchCharts labels that specific reference discontinued. Neither listing establishes when the earlier collection as a whole stopped production, and Cartier’s current collection page shows Roadster models are offered today.

How to make sense of Roadster model differences
Start with the reference number, then check its size, movement, materials, dial, and included bracelet or straps. This avoids assuming that a specification from a current large model also applies to an older or medium Roadster.
