Its defining change is a luminous, gauge-like moonphase display set into a partially transparent, metalized sapphire dial. At launch in 2025, MING announced 100 pieces at CHF 5,250; those are launch details, not confirmation of current availability or pricing.
What makes the 37.05 Lunatic different?
The Lunatic rethinks how the 37.05 shows the moonphase. Earlier watches in the series used different aperture or disk presentations; the Lunatic instead places a luminous indication above the central pinion. Its white fill advances or recedes along an arc, giving the display the look of a gauge or rev counter. The date remains at the bottom of the dial. Fratello’s launch coverage attributes the Polar White luminous fill and this display design to the watch.
The dial is partially transparent, metalized sapphire. Depending on the angle, it can appear dark or reflective silver, with luminous details adding contrast. The changed display and dial treatment are the principal visual distinctions of this third model.
Movement and daily operation
The watch uses the manual-winding Sellita for MING 288.M1 movement. Launch specifications report an approximate 40-hour power reserve and quick-setting for both the date and moonphase. Hodinkee’s specification table says the movement is not chronometer-certified. Hodinkee’s launch report and Fratello describe the movement and reserve.

MING’s available 37.05 guide covers crown operation and cautions for the original 37.05 and Series 2, but does not list the Lunatic as a covered model. Its instructions should not be treated as Lunatic-specific operating guidance. Consult the watch’s own documentation or MING before setting it.

The strap width is a reported dimension, not confirmation that any generic replacement strap will fit: no specific compatible replacement is established in the launch coverage.

How it fits into the 37.05 trilogy
The Lunatic follows the original 37.05 and the 37.05 Series 2. The archived MING page for the original 37.05 describes that earlier watch’s layered sapphire and metal dial, date and moonphase displays, and 20mm lug width. MING marks the original as sold out, with deliveries complete, and says it will not be produced again. Those original-model details should not be assumed to describe the Lunatic’s changed dial or its white FKM strap.
Fratello reported the Lunatic at CHF 300 above the 2023 edition. That is the publication’s launch-era price comparison, not a current market valuation. The watch’s 100-piece production announcement likewise indicates a stated production quantity, not sales or demand.

Launch price, production and availability
Fratello and Hodinkee reported a CHF 5,250 launch price, a 100-piece production run and a two-year warranty in 2025. The launch reports said it was offered through MING’s website and authorized retailers. These details do not establish present stock, current warranty terms, resale prices or whether the watch is currently available. No independently audited sales or resale statistic is established by the cited coverage.
