The original blue TUDOR Pelagos FXD was designed for a particular military task: underwater navigation by French Navy combat swimmers. Its fixed strap bars, titanium case and retrograde bidirectional bezel reflect that purpose. It is also rated to 200 m, but its bezel is not the conventional elapsed-dive-time type: TUDOR says it does not correspond to the ISO 6425:2018 divers’ watch standard. For a more familiar dive-timing layout, the black Pelagos FXD M25717N-0001 has a unidirectional 60-minute bezel.
Why the original FXD was made for underwater navigation
TUDOR says the original Pelagos FXD was developed to specifications created with a specialist unit of the French Navy and is designed for underwater navigation and professional use. The model also revives the brand’s relationship as an official supplier to the Marine nationale. These are TUDOR’s descriptions of the collaboration and intended use, not independent findings from a named military evaluator. TUDOR’s account of the French Navy collaboration explains the stated task: divers plan a route, use a compass to follow successive straight swims without surfacing, and work in pairs connected by a life line.

A bezel for successive courses
The original model’s bidirectional bezel has a 60-to-0 retrograde scale and 120 notches. TUDOR says that configuration serves the successive-course method of underwater navigation. It is a different job from timing one dive’s elapsed minutes, so the bezel’s direction and markings matter more than a general label such as “military dive watch.”

What the fixed bars and titanium case contribute
“FXD” refers to the fixed strap bars machined into the case. TUDOR describes them as robust and made as part of a single block with the titanium case, rather than as removable spring bars. This construction connects the watch’s form to its intended professional use; the official material does not provide independent durability or field-test results. The original French Navy reference, M25707B/21, has a 42 mm satin-finished titanium case. TUDOR’s official M25707B/21 product page lists a fabric strap and an additional rubber strap.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Is the original Pelagos FXD a conventional dive watch?
It is specified for 200 m water resistance, but that rating does not make its bezel a conventional dive-time bezel. TUDOR explicitly states that the original model’s 120-notch bidirectional bezel does not correspond to ISO 6425:2018’s divers’ watch standard. The distinction is important: its bezel is purpose-built for navigation, not the standard unidirectional elapsed-time setup. The manufacturer’s stated specifications should not be treated as independent proof of operational performance or as a substitute for checking the requirements of a particular dive.
How the black Pelagos FXD differs
The black Pelagos FXD M25717N-0001 is a distinct variant, not simply another color of the original French Navy configuration. TUDOR describes its unidirectional 60-minute bezel as allowing precise measurement of dive times. Both references share a 42 mm titanium case, 200 m stated water resistance and the MT5602 movement, but their bezel layouts serve different tasks.

What the specifications tell you—and what they do not
For the original French Navy model, TUDOR lists sapphire crystal, a COSC-certified MT5602 movement and approximately 70 hours of power reserve, alongside the case and water-resistance details above. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from independent operational testing. The product information does not establish performance in a particular military deployment, dive environment or user’s conditions. TUDOR’s press specification sheet provides the technical details for the original reference.

Who the FXD’s design is best suited to
- For underwater navigation: the original M25707B/21 is the purpose-specific choice if its bidirectional retrograde bezel matches the navigation method you need.
- For elapsed dive-time timing: the black M25717N-0001 has the unidirectional 60-minute bezel TUDOR describes for measuring dive times.
- For strap security: the fixed bars are central to the FXD design, but verify strap fit and replacement availability separately; the cited product information does not establish compatibility or separate replacement availability.
- For evaluating dive suitability: distinguish the 200 m manufacturer rating from the original model’s bezel configuration and its explicit ISO 6425:2018 caveat.
