Tockr’s Air-Defender Hydro Dip watches pair a patterned, water-transfer finish with an automatic chronograph; the Lume variants add a separate luminous treatment across the case and components. Historical coverage describes 45mm stainless-steel models with Valjoux 7750-family movements, while the documented patterns range from tie-dye and camouflage to carbon and magma. The original prices date to 2019–2020, so they are historical context—not current offers.
How the hydro-dipped finish works
Tockr describes suspending a patterned film on the surface of water, then passing the watch case through it so the graphic transfers around the finished watch. The technique is commonly called hydrographic transfer. It creates the case’s visual pattern; by itself, it does not mean the case glows. Tockr’s description appears on its Hydro Dipped collection pages.
Standard Hydro Dip and Lume are different treatments
Standard Hydro Dip
The standard line is defined by its patterned finish. Historical Air-Defender coverage documented Tie-Dye, Black Camo, Hulk Camo, Black Carbon, Blue Carbon, and Magma designs, with strap configurations varying by reference. A 2019 collection report also noted custom HIX Design strap options. The pattern and strap should therefore be checked against the exact watch rather than assumed from the collection name.
Air-Defender Lume
The 2020 Lume series retained the hydrographic designs but added luminous dye or treatment to cases and components, beyond the conventional lume on hands and markers. WatchPro described black-and-white, green marble, and camouflage versions. Tockr co-founder Sophy Rindler told WatchPro, “Our goal with this new series was to create watches with 360-degree lume that’s as ambitious as the designs on our hydro dipped watch cases.” The added glow is the principal functional distinction; it is not a separate movement specification.

WatchPro also reported founder Austin Ivey’s claim that Tockr was “the first watch brand in the world to develop a luminescent hydro dipping process for a wristwatch.” That is an attributed brand claim, not independently established proof of industry priority.
Air-Defender specifications reported in coverage
Historical coverage describes Air-Defender Hydro Dip chronographs with a 45mm stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, automatic Valjoux 7750-family movement, day-date display, and three-counter chronograph. Reported examples specify 100m water resistance and approximately 40–42 hours of power reserve. Finish, strap, and lume can vary by reference, so use the individual watch’s documentation to confirm details.

Tockr’s current Hydro Dipped pages include other products, not just Air-Defenders. For example, the official Hydro Dipped Black Camo Chronograph page lists a 45mm stainless-steel case, Valjoux 7750, three chronograph counters, leather strap, and 10ATM/100m water resistance. The Hydro Dipped SkyTrain is a different model: it is listed as 42mm, with an ETA 2834-A6 movement and 50m water resistance. Those SkyTrain specifications should not be applied to an Air-Defender.

These figures describe launch-era reporting, not current market value or a guaranteed selling price. Tockr’s currently surfaced Hydro Dipped product pages include chronographs and a SkyTrain, but do not establish that a particular historical Air-Defender reference is in stock. At the time those pages were crawled, one chronograph page listed $2,850 and available, while a Marble Lume chronograph page listed $3,250 and out of stock. Check the exact reference, seller, condition, price, and stock before buying.

What to check when comparing references
- Reference and pattern: Confirm the Air-Defender model and its specific finish; historical color names do not guarantee current availability.
- Standard or Lume: Establish whether the luminous treatment covers the case and components, rather than only the hands and markers.
- Fit: The reported 45mm case may wear differently depending on wrist shape and strap. Try it on if possible.
- Functions and movement: Verify the movement, day-date, chronograph counters, and power reserve for the individual reference.
- Water resistance: Confirm the rating for that watch and have an older example’s seals assessed if water use matters.
- Strap and condition: Check what is included and verify attachment dimensions and interface before ordering a replacement; strap configurations vary.
- Purchase terms: Confirm condition, warranty, seller, final price, and return terms for the exact watch. A current listing for a related Hydro Dipped model is not evidence that an Air-Defender is available.
