Colin chose his Sinn 903 Chronograph after reading about the watch and speaking with Define Watches, which Time+Tide described as importing Sinn in Brisbane at the time. What kept it in his collection was more personal: its navy-blue dial, comfortable fit, and the pleasure of wearing it alongside dozens of other watches.
What persuaded Colin to buy the Sinn 903?
In Nick Kenyon’s 12 March 2020 Time+Tide Watches article, Colin says he had read about the Sinn 903 before speaking with Define Watches in Brisbane. The conversation preceded his purchase. The article describes Define as a Sinn importer at that time; it does not establish the retailer’s current relationship with the brand.

Comfort and a place in the collection
Colin said the watch was comfortable to wear and fit naturally into his large collection. As he put it: “I have 40 watches, so it fits into my collection nicely, and I wear it as regularly as I can.” The figure is Colin’s own count as quoted in the article, not a claim about the collection today.
He also said, “I’ve had it for probably five or six years. I really like it. It’s a nice watch,” and summed up his affection more simply: “I absolutely love it.” These remarks convey why the 903 mattered to him; they are personal impressions, not a general assessment of the model.

Why does the Sinn 903 evoke the Breitling Navitimer?
Time+Tide’s account connects the 903’s dial layout to Breitling’s Navitimer 806 and 809. It says that, during the quartz-crisis era, Helmut Sinn acquired rights from Breitling to use layouts of those dials. The article presents that history as part of the 903’s unusual background; the transaction and its precise scope are not independently established here.
The resemblance is part of the story, but it should not be taken to mean Colin’s watch is literally identical to a Navitimer. The article itself describes the Sinn as slightly smaller, and it does not identify Colin’s exact reference or document a model-by-model technical comparison.
