The Garmin epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire edition adds a sapphire lens and preloaded TopoActive maps to the Pro Standard feature set. Multi-band GPS and the built-in LED flashlight are already Pro features, not Sapphire-only upgrades. Which case materials and battery estimates apply depends on the exact size and configuration.
What does the Sapphire edition add?
Garmin describes the Sapphire edition as including the Pro Standard features, plus a Sapphire lens and preloaded TopoActive maps. Those are the core differences from the Pro Standard edition, according to Garmin’s UK product page.

The Sapphire lens is a material choice, not a promise that the watch face is scratchproof. Garmin’s product description does not establish a scratch-resistance percentage, and the official sources cited here do not provide independent comparative durability testing.

Which features are shared with Pro Standard?
Multi-band technology and the built-in LED flashlight are part of the Pro feature set. They are not exclusive to the Sapphire edition. If those are the features you want, the edition distinction to focus on is the lens and preloaded maps.

How do size and configuration affect the choice?
The epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire family is available in 42 mm, 47 mm, and 51 mm configurations. Garmin’s comparisons show that materials and specifications vary across sizes and variants, so check the exact SKU rather than assuming one model’s construction applies to the whole range. Garmin lists titanium and steel among the materials used in different configurations.
Garmin lists an AMOLED display and a 10 ATM water rating in its product comparison. These are manufacturer specifications, not results of independent performance testing. See Garmin’s configuration comparison for the particular model details.

Is the Sapphire edition worth choosing?
The edition is most relevant if you want the Sapphire lens or want TopoActive maps preloaded. For a decision between editions, also weigh case fit, the material and weight of the specific SKU, and the battery estimate for your preferred display mode. The maps are a Sapphire-edition distinction in Garmin’s description; multi-band GPS and the flashlight do not distinguish it from Pro Standard.
