It is the Adistar Control 5, not a newly named runner. adidas says the original Control 5 was born in 2008. The reintroduced model draws on running-tech heritage, while the collaboration gives it a streetwear-oriented treatment.

The adidas UK product listing identifies the Hardies edition as HQ5289 and names its colorway Aurora Ruby / Maroon / Dusky Ink. That official colorway name differs from Highsnobiety’s visual description of the collaboration as a neutral brown foundation with blue accents.

Highsnobiety describes imitation screws lining the Three Stripes, a reference to Hardies Hardware. The shoe is not physically damaged. Its described design combines a brown base with blue accents, open-cell mesh, layered synthetic overlays, reflective side details, and Hardies lettering at the heel.

The segmented midsole and the contrast between the mesh and overlays give the collaboration a technical-running-shoe appearance. These are descriptions of the Hardies edition’s design, not evidence that it has been tested as a current performance running shoe.

In particular, Highsnobiety describes full-length ADIPRENE+ on the collaboration, whereas the adidas UK listing specifies an ADIPRENE+ forefoot unit. Neither description is an independent performance test.

Is the Hardies Adistar Control 5 a running shoe?
The Control 5 began as a road-stability running model, according to adidas. The current collaboration is presented as running-tech heritage reimagined for contemporary streetwear. That history explains its technical design, but the available sources do not establish how the Hardies edition performs for training or whether it is a suitable choice for a particular runner.

adidas UK listed the HQ5289 collaboration for £110 when the listing was captured. adidas US also included the collaboration in its Adistar catalog. These are market-specific listing facts, not confirmation of current price, stock in every size, availability in every country, or inventory at Amazon or another retailer.
