These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Compare the two primarily by the dial and strap you prefer, then confirm the reference on the actual watch and its paperwork. Glashütte Original’s current Cherry Blossom page describes another 40 mm red-gold two-hand watch with a porcelain dial, automatic Calibre 36-16, 100-hour power reserve, and 5 bar water resistance. It is labeled a “Studio model.” The page does not establish that it is limited to 150 pieces, so treat it as a distinct offering rather than another confirmed edition of either reference above: Senator Meissen Cherry Blossom.
What makes the dial distinctive?
The dial is a thin porcelain disc. Glashütte Original and MEISSEN describe it as first fired at 1,400°C; decoration, Roman numerals, and inscriptions are applied by hand in layers, with each color layer fired at 900°C. These are the makers’ descriptions of their process, not independently verified production measurements. The craft explains why the dial is the central point of difference between this watch and a conventional metal-dial dress watch.

What does the movement and specification mean in practice?
Calibre 36-16 is listed as an automatic movement with a 100-hour power reserve and silicon balance spring. The long stated reserve means the watch can remain unworn for several days and still be within its listed running time, though actual running time can depend on factors such as how fully it was wound. The two-hand display is limited to hours and minutes. The celadon page also lists a balance stop for precise setting; verify the feature for the specific reference you are considering rather than assuming every model page describes every detail identically.

Is the Senator Meissen limited edition?
Yes: Glashütte Original lists each of the two cited references—1-36-16-02-05-01 and 1-36-16-03-05-01—as limited to 150 pieces worldwide. That is an edition count, not evidence of investment performance or future resale value. The separate Cherry Blossom Studio model should not be assigned that limit without confirmation.
