Fratello’s euro comparisons show differing increases by model, and its analysis raises a question about Tudor’s value position. They do not show that sales or demand changed as a result.
How much did the cited Tudor models increase?
Fratello reported the following prices for bracelet configurations in its euro-market comparisons. These figures are not universal: prices vary by currency and local taxes.
| Model | Earlier cited price | 2024 cited price | Change and time period |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black Bay Burgundy | €4,440 | €4,620 | 4% at the start of 2024, as reported by Fratello |
| Black Bay 54 | €3,800 | €3,970 | 4.5% at the start of 2024, as reported by Fratello |
| Black Bay 58 | €3,940 | €4,070 | Crossed the €4,000 threshold; percentage not stated in the cited summary |
| Black Bay GMT | €4,250 | €4,450 | Change reported by Fratello; percentage not stated in the cited summary |
| Black Bay Pro | €3,770 at its 2022 introduction | €4,290 | 13.8% cumulative since introduction, not a 2024-only increase |
| Pelagos 39 | €4,170 at its 2022 launch | €4,780 | 14.6% cumulative since launch, not a 2024-only increase |
| Ranger | €2,880 at its 2022 introduction | €3,370 | 17% over about 18 months, not a 2024-only increase |
| Black Bay Chrono | €4,920 in April 2021 | €5,670 | 15.2% over almost three years, not a 2024-only increase |
All comparisons and time-period descriptions are reported by Fratello. The figures compare like bracelet configurations where specified; they should not be treated as prices for every strap option or every regional market.
Why the €4,000 threshold mattered to Tudor’s value perception
Fratello framed the increases as part of a broader move upmarket. Its analysis was that Tudor had been an obvious option below €4,000, but the Black Bay 58’s move from €3,940 to €4,070 meant it no longer fit that simple price-category shorthand in the cited euro context. The Black Bay 54, at €3,970, remained just under the line; the Burgundy rose to €4,620.

A threshold is a useful way to describe positioning, not proof that buyers make decisions at exactly €4,000. Still, crossing it can make a familiar model feel like a different proposition to someone comparing watches by budget. Fratello also noted that many models sat in the €4,000–€5,000 range, where buyers may scrutinize what the watch offers relative to its price.
How secondary-market prices complicate the comparison
Fratello identified pre-owned and grey-market offers below official list prices as a possible challenge to Tudor’s value proposition. A lower asking price outside the official retail channel can make a new watch at list price seem less compelling, but the comparison is not automatically like-for-like: condition, warranty, seller, availability, and exact configuration matter.

- 41mm steel case with polished and satin finish
- Bidirectional rotatable bezel in steel with 24-hour graduated anodised aluminium disc
- Self-winding mechanical movement with 70 hour power reserve
For a useful comparison, first match the model and configuration, then distinguish the official retail price from a pre-owned or grey-market asking price. A secondary-market listing is not evidence that Tudor reduced its official price or that the watch’s market value fell by the same amount.
What the price comparisons do—and do not—establish
The figures document reported price movements and make a change in perceived value plausible; they do not establish a measurable change in sales, demand, conversion, or market share. The sources cited here provide no causal sales evidence linking Tudor’s 2024 increases to buyer behavior. Any claim that the increases made Tudor less popular, or that customers switched brands, would go beyond what these comparisons show.

Product context is not an explanation for the increases
TUDOR’s 2024 Black Bay press document says: “The original Black Bay first launched in 2012 and was given the Manufacture Calibre treatment in 2016.” It also states: “TUDOR offers a five-year guarantee for all its products,” and says the guarantee is transferable and requires neither registration nor periodic checks. These are product and warranty facts, not a stated reason for the price changes.
The same 2024 press document describes the monochrome Black Bay as a 41mm model with METAS Master Chronometer certification, 200m water resistance, a 70-hour power reserve, and steel-bracelet or rubber-strap options. Those specifications describe that model; they do not explain the full range of Tudor price increases.

For current product context, TUDOR’s Black Bay page identifies a 41mm steel model and labels displayed prices as suggested retail prices. TUDOR reserves the right to modify prices and models, so a current listing should not be used as a substitute for a historical 2024 price.
